So, after "The Motorpnakotic Fragments", the cover of H.P. Lovecraft's Spin, spin, spin is another reference to the author. Admittedly, the cover does not necessarily have to refer to the writer since Bent and Snah might just have liked the song, the name of the band being irrelevant.
Still, "…pnakotic…" clearly refers to Lovecraft's eerie work. So, I wonder who of the three might be into his stuff. And are there Psychonauts around here who rate Lovecraft's stories? As you might have guessed by now, I do!
February 29, 2016 at 08:18 #29051He wrote a lot of masterpieces, imho.
I could say that Kenneth (who's my age) brought the idea, but maybe I'm wrong.
For sure, he wrote a lot of material which can be translated into  music
February 29, 2016 at 09:45 #29052BS is a very well-read man, just sayin..!!
March 23, 2016 at 23:16 #29053@v1: Any reason for why it could have been Kenneth? Or was that just a random guess? Yeah, and he wrote a lot of stuff which can be translated into 8O kinda music!
@kjellepelle: I know well-read people who don't give a sh** about supernatural horror stories. And considering what I know about Bent (through his lyrics and inteviews), he doesn't strike me as a fan of that kinda stuff.
March 23, 2016 at 23:23 #29054By the way, the following is a famous Lovecraft quote, which could be one explanation – among others – of the recent disturbing political development in Germany's (and other European countries') society:
The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.

I'm as big a fan of the author H. P. Lovecraft as I am of Motorpsycho, so I thought I'd check this further… The few times I've talked to Bent at length we haven't discussed literature, so yesterday I asked my good friend Kjell Runar "Killer" Jenssen about this. He says that Bent is indeed a fan of Lovecraft. So is Killer, and that's way he included a quote from Lovecraft's "The Nameless City"* in the matrices of the Lobotomizer LP: "THAT IS NOT DEAD WITCH [sic] CAN ETERNAL LIE / AND WITH STRANGE AEONS EVEN DEATH MAY DIE" (which was also used in the cover illustration for Iron Maiden's Live After Death album). So there has been a Lovecraft reference ever since the first album, although Bent or Snah had nothing to do with that, since they were both on holiday when the album was prepared for pressing.

April 10, 2016 at 09:48 #29058Well, that's not my cup of tea.
April 10, 2016 at 10:33 #29059is he really? thats great, i love him too. i wonder if he knows the german author walter moers?
April 10, 2016 at 13:20 #29060That is so cool. Terry Pratchetts Discworld novels are pure genious. There is a lot of humor in Motorpsychos lyrics/linernotes etc. (as well as the ever-present affinity for a good pun), so it makes perfect sense that he likes the great PTerry.

Quote:Man, I'd really like to have one of thoses Lobotomizer LPs…I had three copies of the 1st edition of Lobotomizer. I've kept my original one, which I bought when it was released. I got the other two copies for 10-15 euro each at 2nd hand stores here in Oslo many years ago, and then I traded them for other MP goodies in recent years.
April 12, 2016 at 11:48 #29062@boomer former helm
