I got on Dime this week, downloaded three of the latest shows and left the client running for several hours each day since (except today … just forgot). However not one byte has been uploaded so far and I have no idea what I can do. Or rather I get the idea that there’s nothing I can do.
Thanks to the tapers anyway!
Well, I just downloaded two new MP uploads from Dime that were made by GratefulKlaus, and I am feeling very grateful!
Dime, and bittorrenting in general, works best with a computer that runs 24/7. Sometimes that’s an easy thing for someone to run, and sometimes it is not. We all have our circumstances.
I have been running a 24/7 setup for years, and my ratio on Dime is maybe 1.56.
I think what we are really discussing is how best to share these amazing recordings within our community. A central resource that is easily accessed is the best solution. Archive.org is a good solution, and another resource to consider is <http://bt.etree.org/>.
Etree is great, especially if you are looking for Grateful Dead. That’s where I go for GD shows. It’s free, you don’t need an account. What’s not to like?
@ bionaut: Thanks for the praise. The recordings from Klaus were really good. Aschaffenburg is missing but will be up on the weekend.
etree.org is no solution as the tracker may rejects music like that from MP. Only Phish, a few GDs here or there, Bluegrass ect.
What I can’t understand is, that people think they get everything for free all the time. As I wrote…the Dime Server “eats” money to run. If you create an account then donate to a virtual shirt. Sorry, no Paypal or other things possible. There was a kick-off from those payment platforms a few years ago. Just push the Donate button or otherwise Dime will tell you more than I want to do.
I’ve uploaded probably more than 4000 shows on Dime and look at my ratio? Yes, there are “Terrabyte Stallions” who DL everything but never listen to that. Let the machines work. For whatever purpose? I’ll never understand that as people talking in front rows during a show. That’s worse.We Psychonauts must be the happiest people in the world. Just listened to Bernie’s latest uploads on motorpsychodelicclips. That alone – what an outstanding high quality live video archive. Which band offers that for free? And almost two thirds of the recent tour on DIME – for years!
Though I’m having problems seeding stuff on DIME for propably a year now (due to WINDOWS/Avira firewall and security upgrades beyond my unterstanding – but I’ll fix that some day) my ratio is such that I don’t have to bother for the next few MP tours at all. And how’s that? I don’t leave my PC on 24hrs a day, and I stopped downloading/seeding stuff just for ratio years ago. Download the torrents while they’re fresh – and you’ll share more than enough at the same time. (Propably not in the first 5 minutes after they appear – that leads to heavy congestion. But then DIME’s your friend.
If Motorpsycho don’t care for Archive or other database uploads, so be it. We should coun’t ourselfes lucky anyway. So please no more complaining!
If you DONATE to Dime, no share ratio is relevant!.
C’mon for all those recordings a mere few coins could be spent.@ schwedenkrone: You probably use utorrent in a new version but new versions (starting from version 1.2.1 and later) are NOT allowed on dime. Earlier version like version 1.2 do work. Other clients work, too but don’t ask which one (not every other client does).
I use an old utorrent client and I refuse every update.
I use qBittorrent which seems OK. Except I usually have to restart the client after I add a new torrent to get it running.

LOgin into your account at DIME. You got one?
Then you’ll get shown all the shows uploaded recently. If you find the category “Psychedelic” click on the ICON. Then all shows active posted under “Psychedelic” will be shown.
Enter each one and DL your torrents.
Then you open each one in your DL client (utorrent or whatever). And I hope you have donated, otherwise it might take a bit.

Hi. Danke. I can find all files, am logged in, but I cant find a link to the torrent. i even find you but cant send you pm. is it a mac thing? anyhow. thanks for help. but it is also okay to end in a dead end…
Have you e-mailed the mods on Dime to ask for the promotion of your account? It is mandatory before you can start downloading there.
