Hello folks, as a longtime follower and fan of mp and this page, I want to share today a small interview I surprisingly found in our north german newpaper “weserkurier” last weekend. At the same time I like to say thanx for all the people who shared their thoughts, deep analytics, oppinions over the years. It´s good to know that you´re out there somewhere psychonauts!

Here´s my short+ very rough translation.(Interview was done by Claudia Nitsche)

Q:In your jubilee year you´ve done an album which somehow needs a big stage. You improvise and break a few rules in terms of songwriting structures?

Snah: Yes, we like to play+express what we feel right now. With Kenneth we have found new possibilities if we are able to recognize them. Until 2002 we did a lot of studio playaround now we want to go back to basics, this can be quite demanding. If you throw away the digital stuff you can´t sit down, getting old and all is done by itself.

Q: Does it mean, you´re more disziplinded as in the former days?

Snah: It´s very easy to be lazy. You come back from a tour, you relax and after that you can loose your flexibility quite quick.

Q: That means less alcohol and more healthy life?

Snah: We never have been an extensive drugband. At least we didn´t want that partying had too much impact on our music making. You have to pay for that -I can´´t smoke+drink if I like to give 100% the next day.Well I can´t really.Sometimes I like to get drunk this is fine but the typical rock´n roll life doesn´t fit with our band. I rather take a walk outside and enjoy the fresh air.

Q: How does it feel on a bad day then?

Snah: Worst thing is, if nothing bothers me really. Then,it´s going to be no good concert if I only think of taking a shower and a good sleep. Then you know for yourself that you´re the one who´s responsible for this. The other way round it´s not guarenteed that I´m doing a supergig after sleeping for twelve hours.

Q: Do you have good places for being creative and get inspirations?

Snah:Every year I´m out on iceland for a few months, my ex wife is coming from there. Being out in the nature is a good thing for me-no ipods and mobile phones can give you a lot of energy. I would like to do this more often but until now I can´t match it with my life…(here he talks a bit more about being out in nature as an “urban kid”.

Q: So you like to get some distance to the other band members for a while?

Snah: I don´t have too many close friends but Bent and Kenneth belong to them. We spent a lot of time together and have an intensive interaction. We also found out ways to go seperate way (laughs) especially Bent and me.We´re together in a band for 20 years now, but we´re not that sentimental, nostalgic and all our thinkings circle around in the past.

Q: So you stil live in Trondheim with 160000 inhabitants?

Snah: Yes, allthough many of our friends moved to Oslo to be closer to the business. Trondheim is our little “airbubble” where we can play with our fantasies and look after our physical fitness. We are not more talented nowadays but maybe more satisfied because there´s allways something new to discover. (…)

Q: How do you think is your image as a band? Are you freaks?

Snah: Possibly yes. I never expected to buy myself a golden watch from beeing a musican.I never thought that doing music is a kind of job.

Q: Did you think of cutting your hair and cut off our beard?

Snah:Well, yes-I do think about it at least one time per day (laughs), especially if the electric hair cutter come close to my face.

Q: Why don´t you do it?

Snah: My wife just has left me, maybe now it´time for this. But I know that it won´t change much.

Yeah, I felt kinda bummed out reading that too. Especially considering they have a 12 year old boy, too. Well, that’s a prize one has to pay for living that kind of life, I guess.

It must be easier for Bent & Cecilie, because she’s their manager and actually makes a living of MP.

Thanks for telling us about this interview! I learned German at school but I never did my homeworks so it sucks ;). Google translator is my friend! Danke!

The classes I followed for germain weren’t efficient either. I guess that is my own fault because I walked in the first day thinking we won 3 to 1, that didn’t prove to be a proper attitude for learning. :D

Anyway very many thank you’s for the translation. Sorry to hearn ‘Snah’ is going through a breakup. Strang that the album feels so mild considering his loss.

ohh, boy! I always joked about his look, either his wife left him or he lost a bet. but it´s sad that this theory turns out to be kind of true. sorry for him!

maybe she left him because of his look….

imagine yourself as a little boy with a father looking like that…

              #16192

oh come on! He looks good!

              #16193

you´re right! we´re getting a little bit mean here.

              #16194

I don´t agree whatsoever. You people have no taste. In my book Snah is one of the coolest-looking men around.

yeah, some guys crossed the line here.

i’d like to have a father like that. and if i was the rockhippie father and my son wouldn’t accept me, he’d be off to bootcamp PRONTO!
