went last saturday to the Effenaar show.

What a crap sound! The first 60min there was absolute no balance between instruments en vocals. This was sad, really sad. I watched the person at FOH and saw him struggling not knowing what to do. Eventually he obtained a very poor mix.

The music of MP deserves good sound quality and lots of dynamics. (not just some reverb on the drums)

FOH engineer, if you can't handle the band just quit. As an engineer too, I will take over next time this happens.

MP, the sound quality is important for a great show, so be critical.

The Effenaar is a tough place to mix live shows at, partly becaus of the way the room is built and how the stage is located. Once you manage to adjust the sound accordingly, the venue has great sound. Same goes for the Zakk club.

was it the resident engineer? or who's their engineer these days anyway? is it still Pidah?

oh there's a Pidah here among us! :) I didn't realize. Is it THE Pidah? If so yeah go for him, man. Teach the noob!

Motorpsycho always uses their own tech's. And with good reason. Ken K. does foh these days,I stopped doing so in 2007.

Considering the facts, fnr hall (acoustic suck-o-rama) and the amount of sound coming from stage (did you even notice or check that mr/mrs tj?) I thought Ken did fine.

I really enjoyed hearing all those "golden"oldies again, btw!

Very classy of you to stick up for Ken, Mr. P.

The main hall of the new FNR is quite simply an acoustic farce. And to make it worse, the limiters on the x-overs are set way too tight. How different was that in the ol' place :)

I thought the overall balance was a bit guitar-heavy. The three stacks on stage may have had something to do with that.

Havent been to many shows after P. stopped but Ken have always done a good job (It takes some guts to work for those boys!!)It's not for novices (even if you have some experience).

BTW a weary harty hi to the mighty P. from your friend the x-merch :MPD:

              Go Pidah!

I was there too and thought the sound was quite muddy. Usually I can never hear Snah clearly and now he was all over the place. As a guitarist I was happy about that!

Bents' bass was very undefined though. But, as stated above and according to another person that worked there that evening, Bent was VERY loud onstage, so that too could have resulted in a less than favourable situation for their soundman.

Have no idea about the acoustics though, will trust the knowledgable ones on that one, but I saw MP there before and My Bloody Valentine & the sound at all these gigs was excellent to my ears. But what do I know, I just play guitar, hahaha!

                Hi Ken K,

I must admit that the way I wrote everything was pretty low. Sorry!!! Don't know what inspired me to wrote it like that but it should have been more constructive and tactful.

During the years I've seen a lot of shows of Motorpsycho in different venues and this was the first time that I was irritated by the sound quality. So I don't want to be the "arrogant twat" but a critical fan.

Maybe the combination FNR and MP doesn't work for me.
