I just wanted to thank the ones who tipped Dungen. Wow. Really cool band, i love it. I downloaded (yeah, i do download) Ta Det Lugnt and listened to it a lot the last few days. So i went looking for their records and found one: Trio Bitar. I didn’t buy it cause i wanted some more info and hadn’t the time to listen in the store.

A few reviews said this one isn’t as good as Ta Det Lugnt. Any thoughts?

It was me, and i’m thrilled that you like them. I’ve been listening to them for 3 weeks non stop now :)

It’s a really good one, but Ta Det lungt is better in my opinion. But then again….4 is also great. In fact…they’re all great! Check ’em out. By the way..it’s called Tio Bitar (Ten bits), not Trio Bitar ;)

I’d recommend Stadsvandringar, really cool album :)

          Since we are off topic,

how come that I can post a reply here and not on ‘the favourite album list’?

I try for 2 days now but no dice…

I can only read my posts when I’m logged in but not when I’m logged out.

          :?:

          By the way:

I downloaded Dungen’s ‘Ta Det Lugnt’ & ‘4’ and really like them.

The guitarplayer really is into Hendrix but that’s not why I like them,

and I don’t mind that they sing in Swedish a bit.

Makes me curious how Motorpsycho would sound like if they use Norge lyrics.

Well thanks again GBD, it is always a thrill to get to know a good bands, and this sure is a great one. I really had to get used to the singing in swedish though. I don’t mind, but it is strange, listening to a band and not have a clue what the hell they are singing about. But, it has it’s charm. Anyway, i really want to see this band live one day.

They remind me of Comets on Fire in a way, especially their lp Avatar.

to be honest, “4” is pretty much the album i wanted mp to make.

I bought “Tio Bitar” and I like it. I really like the drumming, reminds me of Jaki Liebezeit (Can). Perhaps if after some more listens I like it still, I see into it to get the other records. They are quite cheap on amazon.

                RvL

I saw a band at festivial Mundial in Tilburg recently doing a very good show.

I said to a friend of mine: “I saw this band and it was problaby the best discovery of a band making psychedelic music since I discovered Dungen” (which was around 2 years ago).

The band is called “Dengue Fever”.

From wiki: Dengue Fever is a six-member band from Los Angeles who combine Cambodian pop music and lyrics with psychedelic rock.

If you’re into 60s psychedelic pop check them out. (during the live-gig I was sometimes thinking of the kind of happy-Syd-Barrett-Floyd-like-sounding stuff)

They sound a bit more poppy than Dungen though.

Sounds really good too RvL, i will check them out tomorrow. O how everybody is comlaining about downloading…i will give Tio Bitar some more listens and probably end up buying the thing. Now, send them to Vera, Groningen and i will be there. The power of internet.

I saw Dungen live at Rockefeller earlier this year when they warmed up for Soundtrack Of Our Lives.

They bored me so fucking much! I have heard a couple of their records, and they were far better on record. Live they were not good at all.

Funny you should mention that. I fell in love with their albums, but after looking at some live footage on youtube, the struck me as rather weak live. But on the other hand, ppl seem to hail them as a live band aswell, so i guess i’ll be checking them out if they decide to play at a venue near me. And so i’ll be my own judge of that.

The first time I heard them was live, back in 05. It is one of my fondest concert memories, they were pretty good. Haven’t been able to see them again though, so I guess they could have changed? Or I have no decent taste in music.

@GBD, a lot of youtube live clips aren not that representative. Check out some of the MP youtube live vids…

I am going to Groningen tomorrow, i am still wondering if i should buy the Tio Bitar lp or not. Or wait till i find Ta Det Lugnt. Choices, choices. I will defenitely go and see them play when they play somewhere near.
