I have a few friends, that I tried to convince to come to a Motorpsycho concert. Whenever they joined, they were blown away (one friend, in particular, hates music with guitars; but he joins *every* Motorpsycho show nearby). Now I also have these friends, that never joined, for years (one friend, in particular, calls himself a huge prog-rock/-metal fan, but doesn't know Motorpsycho).
I want to send them a teaser package with songs that are a) good (easy) and b) will likely be played in the upcoming tour (hard). So I'm asking the experts here, what do you think will be played in the upcoming tour and what would you include in the teaser package? Songs should somehow be accessible, and show part of the wide spectrum of Motorpsycho.
Why accessible? Well, you know how it is, music is everywhere nowadays, and you don't take the time to listen to it carefully enough if you don't have good reason to do it (that's the type of friend I'd like to convince). While we will hear many songs from the Thomas era, these are also not really accessible. I likely will only include one song from the last two records (Ship Of Fools?). Another song which probably is given is Year Zero. And then a few classics from the old records, that likely won't be played, but well.
I'm looking forward to your replies. Fill the void until the tour starts and we can be amazed about how wrong we have been with our guesses.

September 4, 2019 at 16:10 #35913I could imagine they won't be playing too much Tower/Crucible material since they did so extensively lately. Also probably not their most accessible songs (as in pop songs) either, because I think they'll still be on the widespreaded adventuring prog mode. So which big songs could return and be somewhat accessible? I'd think of:
STG
The Alchemyst
Sunship
Kill Some Day
Kill Devil Hills
Arnie H
Vortex Surfer
Kvaestor
HBM
Then again they're maybe (back) in Rrrrock mode with:
Whole Lotta Diana
Mr Victim
(various songs from Barracuda and COTF)
On A Plate
In Our Tree
The Ace
ASFE
Sinful Wind-borne
For Free
but aside from possible live songs, just lock them progfans in a room with The Death Defying Unicorn.

September 5, 2019 at 09:48 #35915@ supernaut: wishful thinking! And not everybody's wishes by the way – as is the nature of wishful thinking anyway…
It's the Crucible Tour pt.2 at last – so expect several Crucible & Tower tunes or rather musical stretches. Probably lots of improvisational diversions from the studio stuff. I could do with some new material from the album they're just about to record – but what then would they play next year
Best thing with Motorpsycho (and everything anyway): Don't expect anything at all and get positively surprised! (Or: Go to Neverland!)
September 6, 2019 at 10:23 #35916Not really wishful thinking, just some thoughts. I don't have a live wishlist, I just want to eat cake. I also wasn't aware that this tour still runs under the Crucible moniker. So those thoughts are obsolete anyway.
September 6, 2019 at 22:00 #35917What a delicious version will be. Calling psychonauts… Klaatu – Calling occupants of interplanetary craft
September 7, 2019 at 11:48 #35918Well, I would include Lux Aeterna and The Tower. They’re both likely to be played and I find them quite accessible despite their complexity.
September 7, 2019 at 20:52 #35919Well…they will play guitars, drums, mellotrons, pedals & trickboxes, sing…that's all I'm sure off, they'll probably even play doublenecks, or triplenecks this time around! But…I noticed Tomas had added a glockenspiel to his kit during spring-tour, so if they are not too bored too dead with it themselves, they might as well stun me completely with some Vortex Surfin'!!! It will be great whatever songs they pick, I'm confident. Awaiting the hour, and counting the days! :MPD:
