Yeah, sometimes a bad review is even more fun to read… If intelligently written. Nothing to be butthurt about.

But if it's uninspired then it is just poor craft, hence the author should be pro enough to hand the album to someone else

@Johnny It is not a related artist, it's a description of what they do!

Thanks! I also have given up resistance on that matter a long time ago

So far, great teaser. It's funny how some of the snippets don't make much sense, without knowing about the harmonic build-up/reference that leads to the 30 seconds.

Not a complete turn away from the recent output, but i sense it is more noise/emotion/belly and less cleverness (in a good way)…which i hoped for!

BTW Great to hear the return of (…)!!!!

Sorry for my grumpy words a couple of days ago. I have to admit that it's a solid rocker which occasionally comes to my mind. Still, i find it a bit underdeveloped regarding the structure and the fade-out. I just had to utter my disappointment that they didn't take the chance to start a profoundly new chapter. Still, good, well-crafted song and hoping for some magic to happen on the album.

I have to say that to me it is quite a let down. Listened to it twice from start to finish and didn't make it through ever since. The song just feels incredibly formulaic and generic. The sticking to a certain aesthetic on the last releases was somehow justified by the context of the trilogy, but i can't hear any trace of a new direction or fresh idea. Being the sonic scientists they are, i can hardly imagine the band being in the studio going " Wow, this is it!". I'll give the album a spin for sure, but my expectations went down wuite a bit. Anyway, sail on guys!

Is Bent sporting the old short LTEC/IALC era cut again or is it all cramped under the melon hat? :-D Anyway, 12 tracks sounds like a rather versatile ride to me.

How is it that people who rarely or never contributed to the forum, all of a sudden feel the urge to express their opinion on what is basically an absolutely über-discussed off-topic? Go tell it to someone who cares. This is the wrong place!

Sverre Malling, the creator of the artwork, posted the drawing in 2019, accompanied by the following text:

´As a god self-slain on his own strange altar,

                          Death lies dead`

«A dead garden crumbles into the sea, taking death along with it. "Fly, white butterflies, out to sea". A catalogue of fragile, exquisite things, the bust of Algernon Charles Swinburne as imagined by Sverre Malling. Clovers, putrefying skin, a single butterfly and the gaze of the poet, looking forth from the flowers to the sea. Swinburne’s interminably beautiful poems circle obsessively around streams, rivers, the ocean. "Slow sea rise… fields that lessen… meadow drinking deep gulfs". The decadent eco-prophet lies on the forsaken garden altar. Swinburne wrote of the painting by Caravaggio of Medusa: "Her hair, close and curled, seemed ready to divide into snakes". In death, his own hair has divided beautifully into mushrooms.» — Martin Svedman

Great news! I suspect they have the follow-up to this one already finished with so much time at hand  For some reason, (probably the cover being predominantly white) I also get a feel this one might be more light-footed. Not necessarily mellow, but not as heavy and dense both mentally and sound-wise. Say TM Disc 1 for example….noisy stuff that still doesn't smother you sonically. Anyway, great to "wild-guess" as this new chapter can basically go everywhere. April can't come soon enogh.

Would be great if they already approached something completely new, but i actually understood it to be the recording of the Xmas 7inch.

The lyrics of the title track are a lot less metaphorical than usual, that' true. I also found them a bit bland at first, but given the context they serve a purpose i guess. Just like Bob LeBad's last bunker memo, it's like straight out getting off the chest what's wrong with the world today. Once that point is off the table, the words go to more lyrical places from the second song on. That's how i read it. Letting off a bit steam – and then going back to art.

It grows and grows! I second the comment on production. Especially great to hear naturally-sounding vocals without being smothered in effect layers (as was sometimes the case on recent albums).

Great to hear bits and traces of their whole catalogue without being too obvious or self-referencing. A bit BH/BC here, a bit TT there.

I really dig that they don't try to be "too smart" on this one. Compared to "The Crucible" for instance, which without a doubt is brilliantly crafted, this one feels much more intuitive and therefore manages to trigger some emotions some previous stuff didn't. Less head, more belly…thanks Motorpsycho!
