If you needed reminding, Soundgarden was (is?) one hell of a live band. Check out their new live record Live on I-5 containing recordings of their last tour in '96. Amazing and powerful stuff.

The tracklist is up on Rune. No surprises & apparently no vinyl bonus tracks.

My 2LP is ordered and paid for at Stickman. Can it be friday week already? Please?

Interesting, monomind! Here's my two cents.

    1) The glove is called a "mitt". The guy is lunging forward with his back leg trailing behind him. I don't think it's a prosthetic, just a weird, but not impossible angle in an action shot.

    2) Guy 45 is jumping and I think the foot is obscured by the other guys' leg.

    3) No idea about this one. Guy 45 could just be a lot bigger than the other guy. And, considering the age of the picture, I think that distance to the camera could indeed be a factor.

I love that cover, really classy. One of my faves already. But hey, I like simple covers with something on it I can recognise!

Wow, five years since the rebirth? That long already? I must be getting old! Hang on: getting old?

Any news on the tracklist or the start date of the pre-sale yet?

    Greetings,

Agreed totally, fillmore! No idea such music could still be made, it sounds like it was recorded 40 years ago, with all that doubletracking and mechanical echo. Especially the voice brings back early British prog – the closest comparison is Greg Lake singing on the early King Crimson records. Going to check them out live soon!

    Greetings,

    Thomas

edit: It seems this band lives in the place where their labelbosses Black Mountain only seem to get to occasionaly.

That's great! A great publication for them to be featured in, too! Thanks for posting this. Dare we say: UK tour?

Excuse me if I wasn't clear about this. I did not mean to say I would have liked one complete concert from one location, quite the contrary. I just meant a compilation of various songs from various sources chosen and segued by the band in such a way as to represent the massive scope of a typical (if there is such a thing) Motorpsycho-concert; for which, in my view, we would need 2 cd's and 4 lp's.

    @Chien: thanks!

@Tomcat: You're right, we shouldn't judge the album based on a couple of rumours. But I must say: Who's complaining? Like I said: "Don't get me wrong, any live-album is fine by me…" Heck, they could bring out a 7" with a live version of "Feel" and I would still buy it without a single complaint!

Yeah, supernaut, they could certainly do that, and it would be great. But I think I would rather have a 2cd/4lp Roadwork as opposed to two seperate ones. It has to do with the continuity of a show. 80 minutes is a long concert for a lot of bands, but MP is only halfway by then, as you know. So what I would like is a representation of the ebb and flow of a live-show. Don't get me wrong, any live-album is fine by me, but a 1cd/2lp comes down to a compilation of great live moments, rather than conveying the feeling of being taken over by those guys for 2,5 hours!

I think what I really want to say is: I want MORE! :MPD:

I agree with you, fillmore. A double cd would do justice to the entire scope of a Motorpsycho-concert. But that would mean at least triple-vinyl. Are they considering our wallets, maybe? I wouldn't mind a deluxe Timmy-style cd-box, but I think they just can't forgo a vinyl-release for any "new" album.

Also well worth checking out: the band Wolf People.

Their debut proper "Steeple" is out on multiple formats, earlier offering "Tidings" just on mp3 and vinyl.

    Check out their site: http://www.wolfpeople.co.uk/

Also their site on their label: http://www.jagjaguwar.com/artist.php?name=wolfpeople

And yes, that's the label run by Black Mountain. Both bands are playing Roadburn, Tilburg in april.

"Skonk" might be a misspelling of the slang term "skronk", which is used affectionately to describe noisy, rocking, somewhat lo-fi music.

Oh & yeah, that WATT-show was amazing. Also: the loudest show I've ever heard them play, my trouserlegs were flapping! The sound remained clear as a bell however, never abrasive or shrill.
