Supernaut 'nailed' it indeed. Glenn Cornick (well done Shakti!!). Took it from this video http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xjh6q_jethro-tull-my-god-live-70_music
Interesting to see what must surely be one of Bent's bass/amp inspirations.
Thanks for playing everyone!
I'll have a look when I get home tonight.

@supernaut I've never thought about it that way, but when you look at the next four releases (which I guess you can call the California pop period) it makes a lot of sense that TU can be seen as the distillation of everything that came before it.
Maybe TDDU is the same? That again it is distillation of everything that came before it (prog heaven ) and that MP are now embarking on a new 'period'? The way their discography reads there seems to be the need for a couple of 'rest' albums in between each change of direction.
As always, interesting times being an MP fan.
I agree. I'll be away from the album for some time but I always come back to it, and every time I do I get more and more impressed by it…and then I praise myself lucky for being an mp fan. It brings great joy to my life.
AHAB!
been listening to these guys of late…they have a 3-album EPIC dubbed the 'Nantucket Saga'. The albums are based on Melville's Moby Dick and the same book as DDU was based on (the story of the whaleship Essex)…very interesting stuff!!

Thanks for the videos! Sounded and looked like an amazing gig.

for those of you with geeky inclinations (which would seem to me to be most of you…) I found the little wikipedia journey following the greek mythology items on the album very interesting: lethe>hypnos>hypnogogic. The stuff on Proteus is pretty interesting too, especially the mentions of its use in literature and psychology.
and you know what my favorite part about all this is: I don't know if any of it is done in seriousness, or if it's all tongue-in-cheek…and the best part: I'm loving it!
Lastly, I'll second Hovmod: it is truly a privilege to follow a band that is progressive in the word's truest meaning.

I've listened to the album 5 times now, and it just gets better and better. while the lyrical content and overall flamboyant grandiosity of the whole thing is surely tongue in cheek (but done, as with previous side projects such as Tussler, with great love ands respect) I can't help but flow along with the deeply dramatic mood and "big" lyrical themes.
I can't quite put my finger on what it exactly is I like so much with this album, but I feel there is something of a coming together of the, often disparate, elements that make up motorpsycho, a distillation if you will to a perfect musical concentrate.
as someone else said before me: MASTER-fucking-PIECE!
what a fantastic album! every time you think you have a handle on MP they change their skin. While the album is most certainly an MP album, there are new colours and new textures, same, same but different…and with album art by Thore Hansen (Norway's answer to Roger Dean) how can you go wrong!?
I am so glad that these guys do what they do!

Here are more covers I've done for different MP recordings. Varying quality and sizes, and only front covers.
Enjoy!

heyhey joe
Send me your snail mail address (jazznik@gmail.com) and I’ll send of a set of recordings I found when moving houses. Now that the torrent tracker is up, they have become redundant.
Cheers
