Yes.And Yes. Monsters 2 and analog attention span. Monsters 2 not often though. N.O.X. more often recently – complete of course.
As I said – I cannot and didn't want to comment or judge the video itself – just was triggered by the combination of the "Great Reset" terminology and the Harari quote – something that gives me the creeps. But maybe you are right – I was involved in so many arguments concerning "Reset", Klaus Schwab (the name alone is a par anoia trigger for some people!) and pandemic stuff, that I do react impulsively on trigger words myself in the meantime. Probably we're not being reset or genetically altered at present, but all become just old fashioned Pavlov's dogs
The mentioning of Harari makes me break my vow never to post in this thread again. I like Harari's books very much, though I do not adore him like some people do. This quote here obviously concerns the maniulation of the human genetic code as a more or less likely "human optimizing" method in the near (or not so near) future. I'm very much with Harari here – seing not only the massive dangers but also the ethical problems arising.
But wtf has this to do with Klaus Schwab of WEF or any "Great Reset?" I must admit I have not watched the rest of the video due to my preocuppations with the Great Reset terminology, combined with the mentioning of Schwab – a likely indication of the usual half-witted mixing of topics into stinking conspiracy mess. If I'm rightly informed Schwab strives to bring about social changes by means of economical measures, achieved by bringing major financial and technical players together and developing action plans.
This may or may not have more or less desastrous effects according to the hybris of any greater socio-economic planning, whatever benign the original motives may be. And I do not doubt Schwab really wants to do something for the better, contrary to the abounding portrait of him as an evil puppet player and master of evil. I do not want to enter into deeper discussion here – all I want is to point out that Harari's topic is something almost completely different – the only common thing is socio-cultural change, but that's a wide field. Bringing together quite disparate topics and citing out of context leads most certainly to the fuzzy logic that's behind most of the Great Reset paranoia. Here be monsters!
Wladimir Poontang should be aware that there's a special hell for people bombing psychonauts. To quote from Julian Cope: "All day Barry Manilow: Mandy, Copacabana…"
Or whatever seems fit.
@ punknotyet: Thank you for the detailed information. We are with Ukraine here in Cologne , though not enough measures are taken imho to stop Putin's ability to continue the war. We still receive gas, oil and coal from Russia and therefore finance the desaster. Alledgedly it is almost impossible for us to do without Russian energy – a result of the catastrophic energy policy of the last 20 years. Personally I'd rather do without – a little freeze and less traffic is nothing compared to what your people are going through at the moment.
Myself I'm not very fit for military action, but I have often thought what I would do in your situation. Though I refused military service then in the early 90s aa a young and very naive pacifist, I have long since become a little more realistic. Couldn't hit a target from 10 meters distance though with a gun.
Hopefully they manage to stop Putler asap. Our now very isolated ex-chancellor Schröder, nicknamed "Putin's poodle" in Russia, has alledgedly travelled to Russia to convince his corrupt "friend" to withdraw, but I'm rather pessimistic there.
Thanks for the Spin mag link though – I'll have a look.
Stay safe!
@ punknotyet: How is the situation in Dnipro at the moment? Do you prepare for Russian attacks – and how? Would like to learn what is going on…
@punknotyet: Stay free! Remain save! All the best to Ucraine!
… and worth every single Euro, take my word for it! Lots and lots of material – I was almost overwhelmed by the sheer mass of clips, dokus and the filmed Amsterdam 2002 gig.
As a matter of fact this record already sits in my CD cupboard – compiled and remastered from various DIME sourdes (thanks Spacebandit – among others). I always considered the 2013 & 2014 tours with Fiske a highpoint of motorpsychedelic stagecraft. If I remember correctly this was split into four album sides (having to leave out beautiful 2014 stuff as "Gost" and others…)
Side A:
August
Überpilgrim
Side B:
True Middle
The Ocean In Her Eye
Side C:
Düsseldorf Thunderhell pts. I-III
Side
Düsseldorf Thunderhell pt.s IV-VII
and to make it a triple album some stuff from 2015 (without Fiske):
Side E:
Year Zero
Throught The Veil
Side F:
Starhammer
On A Plate
Into The Sun
A littl dated maybe, but still worth a release. The newer brilliants (Lacuna/Sunrise et al) have more recently been quite well documented – so I'm in for the Great Lost 2013-2015 Roadwork IV 1/2 or whatever you may call it.
Everybody`s enthusing abhout the Leuven gig. Hopefully it will meet the high expectations.
I for once think about adding a third date to the May tour. Regrettably both Berlin and Köln gigs are rather at the early middle of the tour – usually the band raise the stakes in the second half or even last third of a tour, so I'm considering Bielefeld as well. Nothing definite yet – probably I'll decide after the Berlin/Cologne gigs. It may be too late then though…
Quote:I'm in the design/art industry myself and I never really liked most of Kim's work tbh.Just shows that being in any industry wastes your taste
Personally I like most of Kim's covers (admittedly the Eggplant one is way over the top). At least he didn't come up with stuff like that:
On a more positive note: at least the reactioneers (no political pun intended) get to listen to some new, non-mainstream music, which might even advance Motorpsychedelic appreciation in the less enlightened corners of the world
@ boomer:
Quote:But what a strange concept to judge a song by first listen. How much music was left undiscovered, just imagine…You're right in every sense – I'm beginning to discover Motorpsycho's latest studio album just now
Most of these "first listen" clips are just a waste of time – an opportunity to show off, make goofy faces and fake concentrated listening. I wonder if much of the music involved is ever listened to for a second or third time.
The more "exotic" the musical product, the higher the chances of faking expertise – or just creating attention. After all – there must be more Motorpsycho discoveries these days in the US than actual sales, streamings or whatever. Just wondering…
@ suntripper: Thanx for returning to the original topic!
Btw.: The Vanguard record label has nothing to do with the Vanguard investment group, god bless 'em. Not that anybody drew that conclusion here – but still: some record companies (small ones mostly) stay clean. Would have been funny though if the Vanguard Group started with Country Joe McDonald
. Let's hear it for the good guys!
Sad ending of another thread. One too many intolerant posts.
Van Helsing? Isn't that the guy who used to fight vampires? Now turned to a data vampire himself? Unbelievable…
On the other hand liberal democracy needs to defend itself, being (cybernetically and ideologically) attacked these days. I recently read Putin fears an EU expansion more than a NATO expansion – soft power rules! Anyway – we should be careful that we do not turn into the people we fight by using their methods.
