@ suntripper: Loved the clip as well – and was duely quite disappointed by the gig last night. Absolutely NO spontaneitiy, NO improvisation – and it was announced as a JAZZ gig! Rather a fully composed post rock affair.
If you take real live music of Motorpsycho et al. and so many other bands from Norway it was probably like comparing Mike Oldfield’s “Tubular Bells” to a mid 70s Hawkwind or Gong concert. A little bit like late 80s Tangerine Dream with added Grateful Dead “Drums/Space” elements from the late 80s/early 90s. Not bad, but rather sterile.
And the bass player didn’t play a Rickenbacker, but a Fender (precision? jazz?) bass…

The clip you posted is really something different!

Something completely different and not entirely new, except for me:

I’m gonna watch them tonight in Cologne. A Friend who can’t make it gave me the ticket. Sounds promising!

@ dongonz: RF could become a “single” track this way: As the next “Roadwork” on 3 vinyl discs ;-)

As I’m not the biggest fan of the retro singles project, I’ve got no special expectations. Probably that’s better this way.
I think they had to do it to mark another creative hiatus in the long and winding band history. Time to think, collect new ideas and probably new musicians. And have a little fun on the side.
“The house at Pooneil Corners” would make me a very happy Psychonaut though!

3 noisy tunes that didn’t stand the test of time and 1 timeless classic that’s worth acquiring. A Must for diehard MP fans & archivists in any case.

Definitively an “in between projects” setlist. With a bit from everything recent, but without the monster tracks. Good and solid, but not spectacular. Propably exactly what they’re after for – kind of a consolidation in a precarious phase of the band.

@ suntripper: Another reason why I like the cover of “Small Boats” so much – a reference to those futile efforts of gathering a substantial audience in generally Motorpsycho-stubborn Britain. Bang it into their heads shelling them with a corruption of one of their their own major progrock-titles, yay!
Besides a good symbolic vehicle for the Brexit frustrations of so many Britain-loving Europeans, myself included…

Wasn’t there – just posted the setlist. Shame – but Erfurt is waiting…

Trondheim must be one of the most boring cities in the world – given the amount of excellent music coming from there in the last two decades ;-)

@ Punj_Lizard: I’ll send you a mail for a sneak preview in a few days. Have to finish an own demo recording first and do not want to risk Motorpsycho sneaking into the tune ;-). Bad enough the whole thing is almost a reworking of Genesis’ “The Knife” – though not nearly as cleverly written, clumsily played and with slightly different chords and rhythm. And German lyrics – that should deter anybody curious ;-)

Alright, I’ll wait then. Didn’t hear anything about any new MP release – generally avoiding the antisocial media as far as I can…

@ Punj Lizard: As it is obviously a Record Store Day Only Release (and I wouldn’t buy it anyway for just one track, though the title and cover are brilliant):
could you somehow make the one new track “psycholab” accessible for me somehow? (Upload, link or whatever)?
                            Being curious…

                            Cheers in advance!

Just had a youtube-roundup of the Erfurt Festival line-up.
Though the name Motorpsycho of course overshadows all and everything on location (that’s why I have ignored the rest so far at my own risk of being stupid again) it all looks pretty good – so go there, if you can. Time to re-evalutate my Kadavar predjudice anyway (it was just too hot in that Heidelberg location 2014…).

@ welcomehome: Then it’s gotta be Olaf Olsen (which is probably Norwegian for “Daevid Allen” because Olaf looks just like that guy). Or is there any other information?

@ Tomcat: Too late, too late – bought mine last week for an unnegotiated price. Probably should have waited longer…

Anyway: great location, only summer show in Germany, so anyone should get Tomcat’s ticket in time, even if fucking Kadavar is on the line-up (my subtle, objective opinion ;-) ) – I’ll probably go home after MP, but I think I’ll give the bloody Corpses a chance first…
