3 and 5 just arrived. Volume 5 straight on the player, volume up, windows open … a little quiet rolling entry to Ship of Fools and then POW! When that guitar kicked in the hairs on my arms all stood up, a chill ran down my spine and a huge smile hit my face. Oh yes. Oh hell yes.
@ Marc- I remember when Yesshows came out back in about 1980, with the 35 minute Ritual split over two sides. The 'quirky experience' soon became pretty annoying mostly because in those days we didn't have the oppprtunity to hear it all as one track as there were no CDs or mp3s. We had to tape it and then listen to the cassette, but still with the fade out – fade in. I was so stoked when it finally came out on CD. What a joy it was to hear it whole.
You too paolinogrande001. I'll be coming to the gig with two or three other Brits and then travelling with my wife for a few days.
Ticket bought for Drammen. I'm not sure I can go yet, but I can't afford for this to sell out by the time I know whether I can go or not.
@doglicksman – I think pretty much any appraoch would turn out OK if (a) the material is getting into the hands of the punters and (b) the band make a bit of money.
I know someone in the UK who got his vols 1-5 from Rune yesterday, but I'm still waiting for my order.
I agree with mybestfriend83. I wanted to do one show this summer, so I'm flying over from the UK for the Düsseldorf gig.
@ otherdemon – Thanks. Great review. I'm having trouble with my patience waiting for this and RW3.
Oh, and I agree, that 2001 Taifun is indeed something very special.
@otherdemon and @TraktorBass – Thanks for the info – for the vinyl and CD track listing, for the track lengths and for a labelling issue we might run in to. I have just one question. Is it any good?
But seriously – how does it sound?
@boomer – Kristoffer posted on Facebook that he would be joining them.
Release date for these albums is 22 June. Does anybody know if shipping will commence in advance of that, or on that date? I can't see any mention of when shipping will commence at the Rune Grammofon website or in my order confirmation from Rune. I'm getting restless with anticipation, and assuming it will take several days to ship to the UK I'm particularly anxious. Or maybe I'm just impatient
It's a brilliant piece of artwork – just superb. But it's a pretty shameles contravention of copyright. I wonder if any complaints have ever been lodged.
The dog at bottom right is a nice addition.
Well I won't be seeing Motorpsycho tonight, but I will be seeing The Art Ensemble of Chicago – hoping, of course, for Theme De Yoyo
@Johnny, @Elvin – I am persuaded. Decided on both 3 and 5 in coloured vinyl from Rune.
@Johnny I wouldn't buy vinyl simply because the albums retain or go up in value. I'm not interested in buying them with a future thought of re-selling them. I also think it highly unlikely that I'll ever buy a record player or get back into buying vinyl instead of CD or download. The only thing I miss about vinyl is the packaging. To my worn down ears, there's no material difference in the sound. I'm also not going to be a collector – a friend who also just got into MP about six months ago immediately started collecting everything on vinyl – he alrady has about 95% of the back catalogue! He'll be ordering all the new Roadwork vinyl releases (1, 2, 3, 5) this afternoon. I'll probably still end up buying the vinyl/CD package anyway – I have a feeling this is going to be a purchase driven by emotion
