Sure, Traktor. I think I saw either yours or Otherfool’s cellphone number in the other thread, so I’ll text or call one of you sometime on Saturday :D

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! The Saturday just can’t come quick enough

I’ve been to the first two days of Øya. And the quality of the concerts have been outstanding. To have this ending it all off…. Fuck me sideways, it’s gonna be a terrific Saturday evening!

I agree with mr.nelson about the Grindstone-ending. Bent wrote in the liner notes that they altered the ending to have a more intense one. I think the original ending with Deathprod’s moody Mellotron-playing is as, if not more, intense, than the noise-from-hell loop of the original.

I also think Innersfree is a lost classic. But I can sorta understand why they chose to throw it out: It’s a bit too similar to some of the DB type songs. And I guess mr.nelson really enjoys the edit of The Wheel (since you think the original is way too long…)

But at least it’s out now

The reason I think they included Celestine was because it was recorded at Brygga studio. While the infamous “lost album” with Mad Sun, 7th Dream, Pat & Put, Flick, When The World Sleeps (early In The Family) and Black W’abbit + others were recorded @ Kunstakademiet.

Or maybe they just wrote the incorrect date on the Hey Jane EP, and decided to correct it for the TM box release…

Yes, but only a few apparently. Geb will mostly stick to banjo and acoustic guitar.

Unfortunately this review isn’t all that good, even though they gave it the highest score.

                  Very 90’s, Very Aware

Now that she’s gone, we can steal some dough

Get some hash, some glue and a video

Watch the sign/song(?) from the sofa

And laugh at the latest MTV band

They will live a decent life some other day

                  Hail mother cable network queen

                  Watching news while sniffing kerosene

No, I’m easy man, just pass the beer

The latest scene is just not there

They will live a decent life some other day

                  You’re so cool! When you’re in-sig-nificent!

They will live a decent life some other day (x3)

                  When ??????????????????, I’m okay

                  Go!

                  You’re so cool! When you’re in-sig-nificent, baby!

With the exception of the question marks, these lyrics seem relatively accurate.

Disc 3 is not that different. Except from the three songs that got cut off, there’s the longer Grindstone. And Now It’s Time To Skate is shorter, because they faded it right after Bent’s last singing. And Giftland’s intro is shorter because Innersfree segues right into it (really cool segue, by the way)

TAF: Yeah, you’re right. I guess Snah just blends in those riffs where he see fit, not caring about error or calculation

Note: A part of “Innersfree” appeared in a totally different song some years later! Do you hear it? (It’s quite obvious.)

Yeah, I already knew about it from the Copenhagen 1991 bootleg. The guitar-riff that starts at 4:30 pops up in 577 on Trust Us as the build-up riff before the last verse.

                        POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD!

Other than that, Innersfree is a sort of a lost classic. It does sound a abit like a mix between Demon Box and Mountain. But that’s probably why they ditched it from the final version of Timmy: Because it sounded too much like previous stuff. But at least it’s out now. Very 90’s, Very Aware is fun, with some really cool lyrics, but compared to the stuff it got substituted with, it was the right decision to ditch it.

I also like the pre-version of Grindstone way better because of the alternate ending. Instead of the repetitive noise-hell of the original, we get a bridge and an outro jam similar to the Roadwork 2 live version. Way better, and the original noise only gets like 30 secs in the end.

The alternative version of Walking On The Water is interesting, but unfinished. Mr Butterclut is just Snah weirdness in 2 parts, the first being a nice child ditty, while the second is Viscount noise from hell  Sinking is also nice, but unfinished as well. The Entertaining Ape is cool, and the extended version of Celestine (a minute longer than the Hey Jane version) is also cool. Giftland Jam gives a nice impression of how they develop songs/jams, while Sonnyboy Gaybar is a fun (but not essential) way to end the box.

                          A couple of notes:

Very 90’s, Very Aware is the same as the unknown song on the Gent 1994 soundboard bootleg. Innersfree is the same as Lake Innersfree on the Copenhagen 1991 bootleg.

And Grindstone has a very different ending on CD3.
