With all due respect to Uruquay and Spain it’s almost certain that the final will be the same two country’s who played against each other in the 1974 World Cup final:

    Netherlands – Germany.

Finally a chance for Holland to wash away the bitter taste of defeat that stayed in our mouths for 36 years!

I remember that sunday, July 7th ’74, quite well and to this day I’m wondering why the Dutch (substitute) goalie Jan Jongbloed didn’t reacted at Gert Müller’s ball that ended up in the goal, 2-1.

People look at the Euro’88 semi-final when Holland defeated Germany 2-1 as the perfect revenge for what happened 14 years earlier, but I think that day is still to come!

    At least I hope so!

Seeing both teams play this World Cup it is pretty obvious that the best football is played by the Germans.

Robben is still not at his best and in the game against Brazil he ‘forgot’ to give the ball to van Persie (who looks preoccupied with something else then football) when he had the opportunity, and there where several.

Although this team is proud of their team play there are still some loners trying to defeat their own demons:

Van Persie (mentioned above), Elia (when he’s playing) is only talking about making nice actions and tricks and trying to prove himself at this world-stage,

and that are 2 to many.

This tournament the Dutch play ‘German style’ football and the Germans play ‘Dutch style’ football, I think that the Germans will end up winning this clash of styles.

    But first the 4 semi’s.

Spain won with great difficulty over Paraguay and Germany thrashed Argentina, most likely the Germans win over Spain next wednesday.

But I was wrong before with predicting football matches, for example: I never thought that Feyenoord could win the UEFA-Cup in 2002 and they did (with trainer Bert van Marwijk!)

    Let’s see…

    BRING IT ON!

After 93 minutes of intense sweating (partly caused by the tropical weather we’re heaving, 32°C) I was very happy to see Holland win over Brasil!

    2-1

    HUP HOLLAND HUP!!!

    HUP HOLLAND HUP!!!

Laat je uit ‘t veld niet slaan

    Want de leeuw op voetbalschoenen

    Last stop: World Cup!

    Holy crap!

    Good work my friend!

It is nearly impossible to choose some songs over others, but I would like to give you some of my suggestions. Let me know what you think of them.

    Definitely:

    – Gullible’s Travails (pt. I – IV) Heavy Metal Fruit. My favourite from HMF

    – True middle Blissard

    – Superstooge Trust Us

    Maybe:

    – Stained Glass LTEC. I recently watched the DVD again which contains a superb live version of the song, I must confess that this live version is better then the studio version.

    – Whip That Ghost (Song For a Bro’) LTEC

I just found a song called He’s a Grunge Whore (Turbo Negro cover) which I had never heard before.

Very bluesy with walking bass lines and brushes but I’m doubtful if this belongs on a Best Of compilation.

In moments of doubt I would favour MP penned songs over covers.

It’s a pity that a epic song like The Wheel would push aside some other great songs because of the duration.

(maybe for the 4 disc version :-) )

    Eirik,

I found somebody asking the same question on a Norwegian forum:

    http://forum.vintagegitar.no/index.php?t=msg&goto=212933&rid=0

I can’t read Norwegian (that well) but I have a guess that it is you!

To bad that you still want to sell it!

That’s maybe better for the guitar because it’s a ugly sight to see a perfectly good guitar hanging on a wall just for decoration purposes.

    Zen message coming up:

Once upon a time there was a tree cut down just to give it’s life to manufacture this here guitar. So why not celebrate this tree and let some good vibrations reverberate the neck and body of the guitar by strumming the strings and make it’s second life worth while.

And sell it if you need the money ofcourse.

(just out of curiosity, what are you asking for it?)

I hope that you’re problems are solved soon!

    Another great list GBD!

I was thinking the same thing, creating a build up to shock, awe & conquer but that wet part you mentioned didn’t come to mind 8O

Well, I am pretty seasoned when it comes to making mix-tapes, it would be a no-brainer but these darn things won’t fit in her iPod.

I tried Spotify for a while but before I knew it the trial days where over so that’s not gonna work.

The cd making is now in the capable hands of our fellow Psychonaut TvdR.

    @ little Lucid Me

I was thinking of asking her to join us but she have to play at the time of the Paradiso and Effenaar gigs.

Groningen is to far away for me, I don’t have a drivers license so I always have to depend on the good deeds of my friends who I’m always grateful for that!

in reply to: Suggestions wanted for ‘Best of’ triple cd #16771

    @ Little Lucid Me

First of all, thanks for the great suggestions!

I would change Un Chien d’Espace for Flesharrower and add some LTEC tracks (which I think is a very good album)

Concerning the cd’s, I asked a good friend to make it for me.

I have only got 3 MP cd’s and the rest of my MP collection is on vinyl.

    No usb-turntable here.

He mentioned that it’s better to make it a 2cd which is a wise decision.

Next to that, I’m quit capable to make a good compilation but I like to read the input from fellow Psychonauts and Psychonettes

The (!) was not meant as a condescension at all(!)

I put it there to emphasise the fact that most men immediately think of a male as I mention the words “favourite blues-guitarist”.

It was a spur of the moment thing and as you proved it can come over all wrong .

Ever since I started to play the guitar I found out that there are enough female guitar-players who make my head spin because of their awesome technique and control over the instrument.

Memphis Minnie, Bonnie Raitt, Sue Folie, Ana Popovic, Jennifer Batten, Orianthi, Desiree Basset, and Laura Chavez (the receiver of the MP cd’s) to name some old and new talent.

(And a few years ago Jeff Beck had a incredible female bassist: Tal Wilkenfield, and his new bassist is Rhonda Smith)

I was brought up with 2 sisters who whooped my ass if I would have talked down to women.

    Greets,

    Emancipated Jackass

Did someone made some detailed pics of the gear used during this tour,

if so will you please share it with us?

I’m very curious what Snah is using.

in reply to: A new Motorpsycho fan? #16690

    Thanks supernaut!

A great way to introduce these great (heavy) bands to the baby’s subliminal mind when it’s asleep!

Nine Inch Nails, Metallica, AC/DC, Ramones etc.

This song is made for this:

    http://www.canyouseethesunset.com/amy/No_Surprises_Rockabye_Baby_Radiohead.mp3

    Didn’t need much tinkering.

Although this depressant version of Smells Like Teen Spirit uncovers the depressed foundation of the song:

    http://www.aprilwinchell.com/h/mp3/Lullaby_Teen_Spirit.mp3

But I would try the real thing first if I had a baby

    p.s.

I don’t think of The Residents as strange,

    they just smell funny!

in reply to: New 7 inch.. soon… #15899

I want to order the 7″ but it looks like that it is only possible to order if you have a credit-card, which I don’t have

Direct payment on Rune Grammofon’s account is only possible for Norwegian customers.

    Darn

Your guitars & amp set-up looks pretty impressive Daniel!

Do you use a amp switch for clean, lead and rhythm etc.?

I listened to the songs on The Dawnband MySpace and they made me quite curious for the end result of your latest recordings.

It’s just the two of you, + engineer, recording?

Haven’t been in a band myself for around 8 years and that really starts to suck!

I just jam with some friends so now and then but not frequent enough to keep my creative pulse flowing compared to the repetition of a weekly session.

Amongst them are Orpheuse Equipe who pleasure me to let me sit in with them: http://www.myspace.com/orpheusequipe they float in their own stratosphere like Supersilent, and I sometimes get to jam with the guys from The Machine: http://www.myspace.com/themachineband both bands are really great!

Next month I’m going to record some tracks with a good friend of mine, TvdR, for a film project of one of Thomas’ colleges.

Keep me up to date concerning your debut-album, bitte!

    Grüßen,

    Christiaan

in reply to: Snah’s effect pedals #16051

    Hi Hyena,

We discussed the equipment in this thread:

    http://motorpsycho.fix.no/comeonin/forums/topic.php?id=259

Snah's live-gear (specially his amps) will evolve every tour and he probably replace some pedals of his set-up along the way,

so I don't know what he will use on the upcoming Supersilent/Motorpsycho tour in Norway.

As you can see from this picture from the '08 tour:

    2541240342_ec49fbc927.jpg

Motorpsycho '08 – effects by Alsterstar, on Flickr

opposed to a picture from the '09 tour:

    4132778742_91aa9ff553.jpg

Snah's pedalboard by CB67, on Flickr

you'll notice that he left out the (Ibanez or Maxon?) Tubescreamer, replaced the Roland Space Echo with a Carl Martin DeLayla XL and added a Ampeg Scrambler Fuzz and a miscellaneous (black) pedal.

    -3x Boss FS 5L foot-switches

    -Carl Martin DeLayla XL

-Boss RC 20 XL Phraser Loopstation

-Korg DT-10 Chromatic Digital FloorTuner (on top of a Flatliner – Powersupply)

    -? Distortion?

    -Xotic RC Booster

    -Ampeg Scrambler Fuzz (reissue)

    -Lehle Dual Amp Switcher

    -Option5 Destination Rotation Single

    -Chicago Iron Parachute Wah

Who knows what this miscellaneous pedal is?

I don't know what other pedals he use in the studio.

Check out the guitar rig database http://www.guitargeek.com to find out what other guitarists use.

in reply to: Neil Young + Motorpsycho #16123

    @ Mark,

You’re right! Why don’t they take some singing lessons?

I sometimes hear them (especially Bent) trying and failing to hit some notes during a concert which makes me ask myself that same question.

Last time at the Deventer gig Bent himself was not pleased with his vocal-performance and openly showed his dislike.

But like Snah mentioned: playing an instrument and singing at the same time is quite difficult.

It is also understandable that after so many years of touring (and singing Vortex Surfer for example!) their vocal-chords are not what they are use to be and many artists with the same problem are ‘forced’ to adapt their singing to the restrictions of their ability.

But hey, nowadays Clancy can’t even sing!

And I want to mention that I like most of Bent’s vocals on HMF!

But when I listen to the ‘Tonight’s The Night’ recording (thanks GBD!) I tend to think that the back-up vocals come’s very close to sound like Billy Talbot’s scratchy voice.

Check out the Year Of The Horse dvd.

I would like to hear some other Neil covers by MP!

Neil Young rules big time :!:

I just downloaded the album (mp3) for €5,- on 7digital.com:

    http://nl.7digital.com/artists/motorpsycho/heavy-metal-fruit-1/

(edit) For some reason the download is €0,26 cheaper on the main site:

    http://www.7digital.com/artists/motorpsycho/heavy-metal-fruit/

It will take some weeks before I am able to buy the vinyl so this will do in the meantime.
