Thanks for a very well-written review Alex!
you can do without tools: http://www.clipnabber.com
Worked for me on all vids (remember having issues with it in the past though)
thanks a lot!
Thanks, these look great… Don’t want to ask for too much, but any chance you taped more?
Giftland… omg… that’s one that I would have loved to hear, now that they’re practicing TM anyway
un.chien: many thanks in advance, it’s much appreciated
Mark: the info is all available on this site in Dampsaba. Setlists from way back up until this day and age (not sure if recent years are complete). Without it, I wouldn’t remember a whole lot either
Another source is e.g. http://db.etree.org/bs_d.php?artist_key=7735 which lists live recordings that are circulating, usually with setlists and sometimes a description.
Great show, with some real surprises in the setlist. I could hardly believe my ears when the first bits of Mountain set in. One of the “main” songs in the first few MP concerts I ever visited, but not played in a loooooong time. There’s so much energy on stage, even more than last tour. Could not really see Kenneth very well this time, he’s a bit hidden in the stage setup they use (see pics above). Snah brought a new toy which was used during a couple of songs, such as the wonderful performance of Un Chien. Reached the speed of light at some point, felt like we were no longer on this planet. Too bad about S.T.G. Played to death in the nineties, but I would have loved to hear that one again.New version of Come on in made up for it though…
No complaints then? Just one. The sound, at times, was not good where I was standing. Much detail was lost and everything blended into one big soup from time to time. This happens more often at the Effenaar. Gullible suffered from it, grrr… But hey, we got Mountain I will shut up now.
Just finished a third spin so time to share an opinion. On first listen, I was somewhat underwhelmed… maybe because I was doing other stuff while listening. Only Gullible left an immediate impression. But no worries, I have this with most recent MP albums, they need to grow on me. Sound on my stereo was a bit muffled here and there, but generally it sounds great, crisp, well-produced.
Well, growing happened quite fast with this one. Second spin (iPod) was a whole different experience and the third one has me really enthousiastic. Fantastic playing by all three, in perfect balance. Even the vocals are good for MP standards.
Starhammer: slightly different opinion than others in this thread. I love the jam/middle part, the main riff has not fully convinced me yet but is quite good.
X-3: different, great song, not typical MP but looking forward to seeing this live. Am I the only one that is reminded of Queen by the little chorus?
Bomb-proof: solid track, like it.
Close your eyes: very nice, well-performed, good vocals. I wonder what will happen with it live. I don’t suppose they will bring a piano. Maybe they will play the long/different version from the 2002 tours (a highlight in most of the shows from those days)? This is something I wonder about for some other songs as well. What about the synths, trumpets, how will it work out live (without them)?
W.B.A.T.: another very nice track, still making up my mind
Gullible: what can I say. I simply love this. What a song. Great vocals by Hanne, great structure/build up.
What a band…
Still nothing here… … why… cruel world… etc.
Got my ticket for Effenaar, but the last Paradiso gig was also really good, may just have to go there as well…
argh, mailbox still empty… read the review in dutch magazine “Oor”, which mentions Geb as the drummer Nice going guys. Think the reviewer works @Effenaar (same name at least), no wonder they skipped it last tour
Still waiting behind my mailbox… hopefully it will arrive over the next days… can’t wait if I read these comments.
Ah, finally! I was already afraid of having to travel all the way from Eindhoven to Groningen. Great news!
