@trylleball: Same here! That also goes for vol. 2 of the tribute series btw, it’s nice receiving these «surprise gifts» from a less financially challenged past. :yahoo:

Anyway, a nice read indeed! I don’t want to spoil anything, but especially the interviews and the story of the whaleship Essex made me appreciate TDDU even more (it’s a masterpiece I heard).

A little off topic this, yet not quite: back in the 90s Bent used to throw in some words from Funkadelic’s Free Your Mind And Your Ass Will Follow during live jams from time to time, and I think they played the riff a few times, too. Now, did anyone else notice how they snuck that riff in again in the background on their, yep, cover of The Future of Our Nation (on Motorpnakotic Fragments)? I bet little things like that are right up your alley, Jero. 😉

        Edit: fat thumb typos

Funny bonus that he (kinda) looks like a longhaired mix between a young Geb and Kenneth.

Speaking of MP stealing from themselves (which I’m not against!). I’m not sure if this has been mentioned before, but isn’t the head and tail of Chariot of the Sun basically the guitar part of The Crucible (the song) that starts at around 4:40, redone in 4/4?

^^^ Haha, that photo! Is nobody going to mention the obvious inspiration for that one? Sorry, I’m not able to post it from my phone.

I’d forgotten about this by now. Still no news?

It’s still Kim’s artwork, they just seem to have switched things around. Wouldn’t be the first time.

Finally! :MPD: While we’re waiting, anyone up for wild guesses about who the surprise artist might be?

Reeeally OT, but as for the German connection: Snah's mom’s birthplace is apparently in today’s Czech Republic, even though she is indeed German. This little oddity briefly mentions her family fleeing from Sudetenland to Germany when she was a child – some time after WW2, I guess.

Come to think of it, I’m quite sure the label in question was Sweet Nothing – just to finish that detour.

Hmm, all of this reminds me that this was quite a troublesome release. Barracuda was supposed to be released on Man’s Ruin, which also meant Frank Kozik would have designed the cover, but the band backed off after someone (possibly Kozik himself) leaked the mini album (with a slightly different collection of songs) online. Also, there was talk at the time about a British label (the name escapes me) putting out Vanishing Point on a 7”, which sadly never happened.

Probably the latter, then. Here’s the story, I remember a lot of us being bummed out by the final result, having already seen the «original» Barracuda cover (which wasn’t so original after all, haha).
