I've been a subscriber since the release of Trust Us, but I guess I wouldn't really miss it now, as it's really dead as a dodo. The momentum was actually lost even long before Geb's departure way back in 2005 (which didn't stir it up much either!). And now we've all got families, web 2.0 and whatnot. Thanks for great times back in the days!
I agree on the stupid smurfotune on Wishing Well. However, within their limitations in budget and technology, Motorpsycho have actually been "cheating" vocalwise since the very beginning. I've been listening to Lobotomizer quite a bit lately. For one thing, the album ain't half as bad as i remembered, despite the drums. Second thing, check out the pitched down vocals on Eternity. Haha! On Summertime Is Here, recorded a few years later, it's a funny effect taken to the limit and beyond on a song that is a bit of a joke in the first place. On the rather pretentious Eternity I'd say it's bordering on cheating, although not in the sense of digitally enhancing a bad performance. "Dammit, I can't sing in that low pitch. Who wrote this shit? Me? Uhm, would you please speed up the tape, mr. PlayRec?"
Aaaww hell diddly ding dong crap! There's just no way I can make it to shows far away from home these days. I wish I knew someone in Eindhoven who would be interested in attending the gig, but not in purchasing this gem for themselves. Sometimes it sucks to be a must-have-everything fan.
Edit: Selfish complaints aside, the release is of course an awesome thing to do.
Driving from Nydalen to Grünerløkka in Oslo, I just observed two old geezers and a younger dude heading downtown from Torshov, all three of them trønders. I guess it's recording time, then.
Ah, that picture is an instant classic! Hope you find him, Eirik. I'd love to see a full feature on this somewhere.
The Other One by Grateful Dead, perhaps? They've done that one before, right?
That's what we call "eskimorulle" in Norwegian.
Oh, man. Call MP and put them in the back, do a one-off acoustic gig (on my porch in the summer, thank you very much) and make it Roadwork 5!
You're not alone, TraktorBass. I voted 8 Soothing Songs For Rut on 3rd place in the Øya poll. Imagine MP stretching that one out for two hours, including We All Float Down Here (Too). I'd love to see how they'd pull that off!
Supernaut: It's probably Big Surprise you're thinking of, that one used to have Bent on acoustic guitar and Snah on bass.
Come to think of it, though, it looks just like the back covers of Mountain EP and Another Ugly EP.
Maybe they've finally discovered the internet.
Edit: I got the wrong date. It's a festival, in September.
Splitters unite.
