Hey all,
Here is the magnificent setlist of tonight:
Sun Ship
In the family
Ocean in her eye
Greener
Uberwagner
Whole lotta Diana
Sungravy
Taifun
Manmower
All is loneliness
Cornucopia
577
-break-
The Ozzylot
Riding the tiger
Plan #1
-break-
The Golden Core
Great concert with a lot of jams in the middle, but a big highlight for me was meeting the travelers on the Magic Bus. Have fun all of you tomorrow & see some of you at Burgerweeshuis, Deventer!
Greetings,
Thomas
November 6, 2009 at 00:46 #13946Thanks for the list – wow, In The Family! The part from Sungravy to 577 looks splendid… See you in Deventer, greetings to the Magic Bus bunch
November 6, 2009 at 01:02 #13947Geez, Thomas, you are faster than tonight’s version of Uberwagner!
Well done, and nice meeting you.
R Mosquito, you got it–Sungravy thru 577 was really, really good. Not that the rest of the show was bad by any means, just not as consistently in the magical zone. Ocean in Her Eye was beautiful.
There were moments when I couldn’t help but think their three-day stay at this year’s Roadburn Festival provided some inspiration, whether on purpose or by osmosis–some ultra sludgy borderline doomy riffs bulldozing into things from time to time tonight–nice one. And even though Kenneth didn’t stay for Tribes of Neurot back in April he was certainly channeling the neurosis school of drumming now and then–not a bad thing! Like I’ve posted before I do love the new All is Loneliness, featuring pure Voivod-esque space tribal thunder.
Friendly club employees, friendly audience, Bent seemed to be in a great mood, Snah & Kenneth looked content, too; Snah struggled with some tech probs in the beginning but recovered quickly. Cool lighting–bathing the band in rich greens, blues and reds, much like last autumn’s spectacular Rotterdam show in that respect but with more (a little too much at times) audience lighting, too.
Have fun in Koln magic ones, and brace yourselves for Bruxelles, see you there!
(provided the Belgian train strike ends before Saturday…let ’em try to stop us…)
November 6, 2009 at 07:46 #13948Pure magic from Sungravy till the end. Fantastic gig.
The jam in All is Loneliness was breathtaking. And they did the best version of 577 I have ever heard.
Mindblowing that one can go see a gig and get greener, taifun, manmower, plan #1, loneliness, 577 AND golden core in 2009.
And isn’t it just great to walk home after a gig like this?
Make Patronaat a regular stop, guys!!
November 6, 2009 at 07:58 #13949A truly great show. Some startup problems, sound rather messy in the first few songs but it quickly got better. Really enjoyed these versions of Ocean and Uberwagner, but absolute bliss started with Sungravy (minus the guys behind me that just had to talk all the way through it). Great Taifun, Loneliness, Manmower, and the 2nd encore just made my day. Who would have thought to hear Golden core again, live….
They seemed in a really good mood, crowd was also very enthousiastic.
Rune, did you manage to tape it?
Now I’ll have to consider taking another long trip to Deventer…

Listening to Golden Core now. The Moog just kicked in. Ahh…bliss.
No distortion. Fuck me, what a band!
November 6, 2009 at 09:03 #13951@ Little Lucid Me: Yeah, sometimes I work fast! Great to meet you too; I thought you were going on the bus too by the way, my bad. See you in Deventer!
What a great concert. No words yet, just bliss.
Greetings,
Thomas

November 6, 2009 at 20:49 #13953Really looking forward to see MP in Deventer next week!
November 7, 2009 at 07:49 #13954Just came back from Holland. The show was just pure bliss. Nothing to add. Just hope for a recording…
November 7, 2009 at 10:30 #13955Fantastic show it was, with a killer setlist. After a kind of slow start things really started to get in place during/after Uberwagner. Not that the songs before that weren’t good, they where. Strange start, with Snahs guitar not working. Kenneth started noodling, then Bent started the Sunship riff with some variations, until Snahs guitar was finally ready. Strange start like i said, but great Sunship!
Lots of highlights on this show, All Is Lonelines into Cornacopia, Sungravy, Taifun, Manmower, wow. And the new songs where awesome.
Fun momemt before Diana was when Bent said something like he hoped the Duth audience have better rythem/timing and made us clap before they started Diana. And it worked. Really cool imo.
After the first encore they had played 2h20min so i thought well, no Golden Core for me than. But they came back and played an even better version than i could have ever imagined.
For me personally this was a very cool setlist because they played quite some songs i hadn’t seen them play before. Lucy me.
I noticed they had mics on the left and the right of the stage pointed towards the audience, and signs saying no photos, no recording etc. I’d say, Roadworks 4 from this tour! And make sure to include some of the Haarlem songs. They deserve it.
Last note to conclude this messy post: i think it is great that Kenneth does some synths and backing vocals. I don’t remember him doing any backing vocals last year. It makes their sound righer i think.

November 7, 2009 at 11:15 #13956Agreed. One hell of a show. Whole lotta Motorpsycho.
Deventer next.
@Rune: How do I obtain a recording of this gig?

I’ll link it here when I upload.
Btw, I think the No photos! No recordings! signs are there by default in Patronaat. Not to shoot your hopes down or anything. I would love a Roadworks IV – Feelin’ jammy in Haarlem release.
