Great news, but I’m also disappointed by the vinyl only… I don’t have a record player nor do I intend to buy one. I’m a child of the digital era I guess (though most definitely born in the analogue days :) ).

Anyway, I’ve been listening to MP ever since Demon Box and feel sort of cheated not being able to play the anniversary album.

@trolland: i’m very glad i’m not the only one here who thinks so. :)

hei, jtr! how are you? glad to know that you’re active here anyway.

i just think that MP is children of 70’s just like me (sorry, that’s true), and yeah, vinyl generation. and some old interview about LLM, Bent told about vinyl thing, right? and yeah, the band have the choice what they wanna do anyway, so if we complain about, but they never ever change anything about their dicision. that the band called Motorpsycho i believe. and i know they never care what we’re talking about here.

i still not have any request to them, because this caused by my real old MP experience days, if they release something, i will get it anyway. it was toooooo hard to get their releases here for real long years. really, i’ve been spending years like that for too many years and still.

i understand what you’re telling to us, but now i just think that what the Japanese label is gonna be handle this release here. ignore? or on CD???

but this one thing…did you caught the news about rare release of Neil Young? Blu-ray , DVD or CD. no vinyl yep. i guess this is most up to date thing, but again why they chose to release new one only on vinyl. maybe they just wanna do it, and i really know it’s gonna be…maybe a great loss for MP to spread their music to the world, CD is much easier to get but they just decided to do it, that’s all.

but still jtr, i think you’re pretty good mate, sail on : ) and really hope to see you in the near future somewhere!

i think everybody here is aware that everybody can find the album one day somewhere in the internet. flac mp3, whatever. so do not worry so much.

l love vinyl, but i think this is quite stupid also.

i have 40 min drive to my work when i listen to music in my car, i listen to music in my backyard through airport from my computer. when i walk i listen to my mp3 player. when i am at the beach or out in a boat i listen to my mp3 player/phone.

when i am at my computer i listen to itunes or spotify. this means that 80-90 % of my “listening time” is something else than vinyl.

so why not do like other bands like spoon, sunset rubdown etc.. When you ordering the vinyl you get a coupon with a code and then you can download the album and listen to it right away; in your car, home, outdoor etc.. i like that and it does not mean that i don’t love sitting down in the living room with a cold beer and listen to vinyl.

(i pre-ordered the new Wilco dvd and when i receive the dvd i will get a code so i can download all the songs on the dvd in mp3. i love it. Wilco is a band that I think have a good business plan for the future of the music industry)

Well, as it is said already: The songs will find their way to digital-grabbable format sooon enough after the vinyl will be released, and probably officialy some time later(?)

i am “happy from the heart” about this :-)

ey, did nobody read my postings thoroughly? i OWN a record player (it’s right there sitting above my cd player)! i got no problem with getting the vinyl; i already own several vinyl editions of motorpsycho records, along with the cds. all i’m saying is that it’s not that difficult to put out a cd too.

@akane: I’m quite fine right now as long as the weather is fine too ;) (work is not that great thou ;) ), how about you?

reading back my last posting i wanna make this clear: it’s great that mp give their anniversary a special vinyl treat, i was afraid the albini-session would probably never see the light of day and since this will not be an “official new album” it is a perfect gift :-)

Have you thought that maybe they actually don’t want you to listen to it while driving in traffic and not paying attention to the music? I also listen to music in all kinds of formats, everywhere, but when I really want to enjoy a whole album there’s nothing like going into my musicroom and put on the vinyl. Some kind of magic to it:)

No, I’m not 70 years old. Nor a child of the 70’s. I’m 24 and I love absolutely everything with vinyl as a format. What is not to like about it? Is the thing to heavy for you? Or are the pictures to big?

They sell them for as low as 100kr. Try fretex also.

This is so true. But I agree that it is kinda childish to release it as vinyl only. Should be vinyl w/download coupon.

But still, there are CD only MP releases, and that sucks for vinyl lovers like me.

And, as said by someone earlier. This isn´t a “real” new album, it´s more like a Barracuda, roadworks, fishtank type album, isn´t it?

The followup to LLM will be on all formats I´m sure

                        Vinyl forever!

Word Elvin! Becides. It’s not exactly atomic science getting a vinyl record converted to CD-R or even MP3 if that’s your preference. Dammit…Let those “self indulgent mono minds” continue to endulge. It’s what’s led them to this point in the first place. No limits, no laws!
