Motorpsycho is playing saturday 18 July!
A short clip of K9: http://youtu.be/LsyLn7cVW5E
…or simply K9 or Spacedog.
One word: Mindfuck!
173%
Signed, but hope I get the limited version with Burn ommited!
muchas gracias for the boot!
The concert ruined the album for me; It's so fucking much better without the strings & horns! I thought the show was absolutely stunning, and what's wrong with banging on one chord? While Ståle did a great job, I think Snah was drowned a bit in the sound. So I think it should have been more guitar in the mix. MP's live singing are very up and down, but I think they did great yesterday (with great help from the vocal effects though).
Looking forward to the opera show, but I really didn't miss the orchestras yesterday… quite the opposite.
Encores:
Gullible was tremendous. The sound of that 8-string… I think the krautrock part in it should be much, much longer, but still a great performance of a great song. And when Bent warned us before encore 2, I was hoping for Lighthouse Girl (or something else, but old MP), but only got Burn. It was great played, and fun, but I have no interest in Purple.
Only two hours… Ok, they are getting older, but Springsteen still play for 3h…. Just saying
Again: great gig!
With Bent behind the knobs or not, Dum Dum still sucks!
I ordered this from Stickman a while ago… Still haven't received it, so I drove down to the recordshop and bought it from them today. If/when I get it from S-man I guess I'll just give it to someone… Smart business move!
I must confess I was a bit afraid I wasn't going to like it too much. Since Kenneth arrived the machine, I think Motorpsycho have been impressive, but haven't moved my feelings like they used to. After reading about the Unicorn, and have listened to the samples on Amazon, I really though this were going to suck.
After a few rounds, I am really impressed! Yes I really like this album a lot! I know I will play this a lot the next weeks, but will I love it as much in ten-fiften years like I still do with the Gebhardt era? Only time (and my potential change of music taste) will tell, but I think not. I played LLM & HMF a lot when they were fresh, but not so much nowadays. On the other hand, I played IaLC & Phanero a lot the first weeks, then not for years – love them now.
Still, the unicorn is a really great album, and I'm looking forward to Sentrum Scene (but I really hope they'll play other stuff too) and I'm absolutely thrilled about the opera show.
it's a pretty common font in logos for auto companies.
Judging from the setlist, I wish I'd been to this show instead of Rockefeller!

Quote:On a positive note: When Snah switched to playing keys (fender rhodes?) on the first part of the Mountain-jam, I got some serious Robert Fripp-vibes when I saw him on stageThat's a Hohner Clavinet with lots of fuzz.
I had a great time at the concert even if I prefer their slower epic songs like The Wheel (the two minutes they played it doesn't count), K9, Plan1, Manmower (live version), SSIII, Golden Core etc over the heavy prog with the songs from the latter albums. I think the Kenneth era MP applies to me in a different way than the Geb era. Geb era applies to my heart and mind, the Kenneth era more like "wow, I'm impressed". I really like, and often listens to, LLM & HMF (CoF not so much), but they don't get to my nerve like their older stuff.
Highlights for me: Close Yr Eyes, Greener, PPPP and the whole encore. I was hoping for Lighthouse Girl as a second encore.
Why didn't they record a similar version of Close yr Eyes over the slightly boring piano version?
Thanx a lot to the taper!
