Dying over here. Still didn't arrive. Did any of you receive a shipping confirmation from Stickman before or did it arrive just like that?

So, is the Sziget show really going to be the first show since forever to remain undocumented setlist-wise?

Having seen ZU live and watched some YODOK footage, I must say that honestly I had hoped for a more straight forward "rock" drummer this time around. not speaking of stupid bookchakboomchak, but with a dedication to drive and groove instead of technical complexity. Let's see what the guys come up with, but i am a little afraid it will be too many notes and not enough song. i'll gladly be positively surprised.

                        solo: IN THE FAMILY….goosebumps forever!

riff: THE WHEEL….first riff I tried to play when I decided to pick up a bass.

song: S.T.G. ….impossible to answer, but this one probably blew me away first

Sure, no problem – although i think that my post as a whole properly explains how this specific line is to be understood in context. As you and I mentioned, the Kenneth era led to some exciting musical developments and brilliant albums like LLM, HMF or TDDU. Exploring new territory has always been an integral part of Motorpsycho, but since around "Still Life with Eggplant" it appears as if there are no more blank spots on the musical map for the boys to discover. They have been everywhere, they have done everything, so they recently started to go to places they have already explored. To be clear, I am not talking about the quality of the songs and albums themselves, but about a certain lack of surprise. All those side projects, special concerts, theater projects are a good indicator that Motorpsycho are still eager to develop and constantly looking for impulses to keep the band exciting. Of course, I don't know about Kenneth's reasons to leave the band but I guess that he must have achieved what he wanted to achieve. It's a brave decision – better now than waiting until things start to become bland. Kenneth has many years of stellar drumming ahead and I think if Motorpsycho were still his perfect vehicle to be creative, he probably would not have left. So, new constellations, new challenges. As much as I am grateful for the past nine years with Mr. Kapstad, I appreciate the change, which I think is necessary for Motorpsycho to be alive and kicking.

We'll see what the future brings. As some have written before, I agree that they are somewhat stuck at the moment and maybe Kenneth sensed that Motorpsycho is not the vehicle to go to new places anymore. However, the good thing is that this creative cul-de-sac is not due to a lack of quality or good song ideas, but to the mere fact that they have explored and mastered pretty much every shade of rock music. Just remember the wild discussions in the forum when Geb left and how he can never be replaced. Of course, Geb could not be replaced, but the way Kenneth gave the band a new twist and propelled it to new heights is an absolute miracle. I mean, how often does it occur that a band undergoes such a transformation, being able to have a second career – becoming something new while holding firmly to its core trademarks. Of course, a return of Geb would be a real fanbase-pleaser, but I am pretty sure that this would be a too nostalgic move for BentSnah's understanding of what music should be.

I like the mentioned idea of a stripped down acoustic-album – they never did that on a whole album, so why not.

Personally, I would also be really curious how the sound would be if Bent and Snah switched instruments. That might be pretty cool :STG:

Any opinions about the HBM Song it's elf?

So, after many listens I must say that finally I've thoroughly fallen for the new record. At first, i compared HBM to other albums, but now I must say that, although there of course is a lot of self referencing after such a long career, it has a unique vibe of its own. Also, my initial perception that SpinSpinSpin does not blend in well is no longer valid. Contrary, I think it is the most coherent effort since maybe LTEC and it delivers consistent quality throughout the whole running time. Hats off!

btw, i randomly listened to HBM right after David Bowie's Blackstar and…wow…such a nice soothing continuation. Goes along very well!

great song! phanerothyme meets trust us pretty much nails it. I find it somewhat amusing regarding what bent said a while ago about some prog festival where bands seemed to try and out-"lamb" each other. i mean, that whole quiet section with the guitar harmonies and vocal shifting is as "lamb lies down on broadway"y as it gets :-)
