Arvika definitely is in Sweden, not Norway (although not THAT far from the Norwegian border).@Blashyrkh Three different locations/addresses. I should have been clear about that from the start.
-Slussen: Karl Johans Torg.
-Medis: Medborgarplatsen.
-Strand: Hornstulls Strand.A few kilometres apart: https://www.google.se/maps/dir/59.3214543,18.0734294/59.3148185,18.0726988/59.3144715,18.0323974/@59.3143326,18.0472451,2238m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!4m1!3e2?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI2MDQwMS4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D
This is amazing, Blashyrkh! I love it!
I don’t know how small details you should care about, but I just noticed that at https://mpdb.no/gig/2009/10/29/stockholm-debaser-2/ it says
“Venue history
Played on this venue: Debaser
October 18, 2017
October 29, 2002”
which isn’t quite correct.
-2002: Debaser Slussen
-2009: Debaser Medis
-2017: Debaser Strand
Three different venues in Stockholm, actually. Might be interesting to know?Awesome work! Super nice!
“I think the dropdown lists are sort of unusable (on Vivaldi/Chrome),they are too long anyway”
That was the first thing that hit me. I’d rather type in “oslo” then press enter and have all results on a new page than a 90 line droplist. But that’s me (using Firefox).
I eagerly/stupidly klicked the link and ordered the “Ahsol Caravan” CD from Bandcamp last night before bedtime, just to find it in the “international” store this morning, which would have saved me some VAT+shipping money :/ Can’t blame anyone but myself, though.
June 3, 2025 at 16:23 in reply to: A critical reappraisal of Phanerothyme (not that it needs it!) #44574To me, “Phanerothyme” is better than its two “companions”. While “LTEC” has a really good first half, side 2 is quite weak. On “IALC” I only find “Neverland”, “This otherness” and “Custer’s last stand” top quality.
“Phanerothyme” is way more even plus contains two of my all time favorite Mp tracks: “For free” and “Painting the night unreal”.
In 2019 I asked Bent if he had a least favorite Mp album, and he immediately replied that “LTEC”, “Phanerothyme” and “IALC” shouldn’t have been three whole albums – especially the two latter he wasn’t too fond of, if memory serves me right – and Snah quickly agreed.
This reminds me: for a while I’ve been thinking about starting an Underrated/Overrated topic. Maybe it’s time?
April 27, 2025 at 19:23 in reply to: 2025.04.23 – SE, Stockholm – Kollektivet Livet Bar & Scen #44293Yes, “Three frightened monkeys” was terrific as opener! Nice sound and band well rehearsed plus in seemingly great mood. I liked seeing Reine (who prior to the show admitted he was very nervous) play a slightly bigger role, now providing more backup vocals than I’ve witnessed earlier. Cool! While I prefer unabashed, distinct, driving drummers with tons authority (for the lack of “pondus” in the English dictionary), I must say that Olaf did a really good job. Way better than Gothenburg in November! Excellent show!
Highlights: “Three frightened monkeys”, “For free”, “Balthazaar”, “Psychotzar”, “Mountain” and “The tower”.
Also awesome: “Sentinels”, “Lucifer (bringer of light)”, “Lady May”, “Patterns” and “Hyena”.
I’m not a huge fan of “This is your captain”, “Psycholab”, “Core memory corrupt” or “Stanley (tonight’s the night)”, but they came out fine anyway. Breathing space between the overwhelming brilliance :)
Lowpoint for me was “WCA” – definitely not my cup of tea :/
Following the setlists from the shows in Norway I was hoping for “577”, “Kill some day”, “Manmower”, “Neotzar (the second coming)” and “The nerve tattoo”, but hey, I very much appreciated the absence of covers and “The comeback”, so I’m totally pleased :)
I managed to bring two friends that had never listened to Motorpsycho before. One left disappointed after a few songs while the other went the opposite path: enjoyed to the level that he bought a t-shirt.

The guy with the setlist – is that any you people here? If so: thanks for letting me take a photo!@Ratmaus: Haha, Bent jokingly (?) warned me that the new album might be too much Zeppelin for my taste. Haven’t noticed it after four playthroughs, but from now on it’s perhaps ruined :D
So far I think the album shifts from good to REALLY good (and more interesting) after “The comeback”, with “Neotzar (the second coming)” as highlight. But I’m a bit slow when it comes to liking new stuff, so I guess I’ll soon enough find favorites among the first four tracks as well.Even if this qualifies among the five least brilliant of the 20 times I’ve seen them, it actually was very good – at times even great – and well worth the trip from Stockholm. While not amazing on the Motorpsycho-scale it was still better than most other bands’ shows I’ve attended this year. Olaf might not be my favorite type of drummer, which probably was my main “problem”, and as a dude that always want 100% Motorpsycho, three covers is of course too many and quite a downside, but hey, I accept and respect.
Predictable as I am, the highlights were “Mad sun”, “Manmower” and (finally – first time for me) “Mountain”. I’m not a big fan of “All my life (I love you)” on “Neigh!!” (I find it just silly), but live it somehow made more sense and it seemed like a fun song to play.

“There were some similar Zeppelin hints in a couple of tracks on The All Is One”
Aaah, thank you, shakti! Haven’t thought of it myself, but that might explain why I have problems with “The all is one” (except for the amazing NOX), as I really don’t like Led Zep :/ Makes perfect sense! And it always scares me when reading about Zeppelin references/hints concerning a new album I’m waiting to receive, haha!
Expecting my copy to be delivered today or tomorrow.
Maybe everyone who wants a physical copy already found it. Otherwise:
https://www.discogs.com/seller/ActionRecords/profile?q=motorpsycho+small+boats
Someone (or a few) mentioned in another thread that it was disappointingly weak pressing with plenty of surface noise/crackling. I bought two copies of the white version, and one had that problem, the other one not.
I suppose these might be possible, then:
Into the Sun
Leave It Like That
Mad Sun
Sinful, Wind-Borne
Go to California
The Slow Phase Out
X-3 (Knuckleheads In Space)
The Visitant
Toys
Psychonaut
Spin, Spin, Spin
Ulv Ulv
RockbottomAnd I assume they won’t exclude title tracks from EPs:
Mountain
Wearing Yr Smell
The Nerve Tattoo
Manmower
Starmelt/Lovelight
Ozone
Hey, Jane
The Other Fool
Walkin’ With J
SerpentineI’m sure they will still surprise
@ ThorEgil: Wooh, nice bonus! I was SO close to put the order, but backed out when actually realizing that shipping, taxes etc will make a total of at least €75 – AND I ONLY WANT THE 7″. And, mind you, I don’t need it for listening, as both tracks are previously released elsewhere. I just stupidly “need” it in my shelf.
So: maybe time for me to wake up and quit Motorpsycho discography completionism :/
Sad moment :(
Glad you apprOVE
Well, my name is not Ove for nothing
