@ Punj Lizard: Come on – I once did a project presentation right after the Football World Championship Finals in 2002 – after Germany lost 2:0 against Brazil. Lots of people in the audience – about 5 or 6, and probably all due to Freejazz Legend Peter Kowaldt, who played for us un stage
Yep, could do with this ending in Cologne too, that is Hogwash onwards and closing with a drawn-out tower, even better Fool's Gold included.
For the rest of the gig I would prefer acoustic versions of the songs given the nature of the venue in Cologne. Wonder what a 30-min. acoustic Crucible would sound like…
@ supernaut: wishful thinking! And not everybody's wishes by the way – as is the nature of wishful thinking anyway…
It's the Crucible Tour pt.2 at last – so expect several Crucible & Tower tunes or rather musical stretches. Probably lots of improvisational diversions from the studio stuff. I could do with some new material from the album they're just about to record – but what then would they play next year
Best thing with Motorpsycho (and everything anyway): Don't expect anything at all and get positively surprised! (Or: Go to Neverland!)
A true gem! Heartfelt wooden music again…
Fantastic! Get 'em up on Motorpsychedelicclips!

Ah – just dialogue. This is the real stuff:

Something for Motorpsychedelicclips?
Didn't know anything abouth that clip until now…
…And the joke's on you…
Early BÖC are excellent. Shame they lost it to some degree due to – success? mainstream composing? overproduction? shifting weights within the band? Don't know -it is always hard to follow an excellent live album – and there are still great moments on the albums following "On You Knees". I think the Reaper killed them – greatest success and curse alike.
Motorpsycho never reach the dark, menacing quality of lyrics, vocals and music on the early BÖC albums – that mixture of fantasy, danger, violence, drug addiction, weirdness and latent fascism – not that they have to. On the other hand they are much more successful in inventing themselves again and again.
Just stumbled over another astounding soundalike:
Summer Soldier – 1st track right at the start. Do I hear some "Lux" tendencies here? A little cruciblish too… you have to ignore the verse and voice of "wailing" John Lees though.
@ Juergen: Thank you very much for sharing the show on DIME. Didn't expect too much from the setlist – but what an onslaught! Recorded directly in front of Bent's amp obviously – bass very prominent in the mix to say the least. I love that!
Btw. my favourite "Lux" of this tour – a little roughness really improves the odd prog anthem!
Could somebody please upload the recording on DIME?
As I only attended the Wiesbaden show I can compare only from DIME recordings – there were a number of excellent and almost faultlessly recorded gigs – Copenhagen, Hamburg, Leuven and Avellino being the highlights for me. Thanks to all those tapers and distributors!
Wiesbaden hat a brilliant start and several highlights, but it was especially the combination of great venue, good atmosphere (minus the obligatory drunk psychotzar loudly sieg-heiling during the quiet start of Lux Aeterna…), spirited performance and witty band (Bent) comments that made it for me.
I even think of skipping the Cologne gig in autumn in order not to spoil the good memory – less is more! "What do you mean, less is more? More is more!" says Bent – so I'll probably reconsider the matter in the time between…
Now on DIME. Yahoo! Yee-haw!
I must admit I've gotten used to receive all these wonderful shows a few days later on DIME. Can get you addicted – now there's all these Italian shows and no sign of a recording. So Sad says the Psychotzar…
In fact we should be grateful for such a good documentation of the tour in the northern and middle parts of Europe. With last tours it just took a little longer until some Italian recordings surfaced.
But reading about that Lacuna/SunWheel makes me crave for more!
@ ffbernieTrue mastery! Thanks once more from the heart!
Btw: I always think that way when I leave another excellent MP gig – and I'm still going…
antother issue: Met one of the guys at the Wiesbaden concert who filmed the Herzberg 2011 festival gig. Great footage (3 cams)- was allowed to see some years ago and instigated they might give it to you. Problem is only they signed a contract with MP management then not to give away the material without authorization.
Can you clear this with MP for them? Would be a shame to let the stuff rot somewhere in the cupboard…
