You sound like I did a few days ago, Joeri. But after a few spins I saw the light. BAM! Now I’m a believer. I too was writing about aimless jams and generic riffing and now I’m sooooo embarrased about this. Really. Let it grow.
Listening while reading this lifts GT into a whole new dimension. 8O
thanks for yr devotion, guys.

Yes exactly, I get Up I get Down.
Not sure if it’s mellotron. Probably is.
I get easily bored by jamming to pieces of simple structures. Starhammer works great though. That one’s massive and catching. Well it’s actually not simple at all. Funnily enough I always enjoyed The Wheel or the Nothing to Say/Mountain live combo where they did just that simple riffing. Maybe because those always felt like being on the spot, despite lenghty jamming.
Nowadays I’m more into the elaborate, tricky and rhytmically overlapping stuff from Alchemyst and Sunship. But besides that, I mostly miss songs. Starmelt, Hey Jane, Ozzylot, Hyena, Nerve Tattoo, Serpentine, I’m always in for a catchy refrain and that’s one of their mostbiggest strenghts that got put aside here.
Bah, in a few days I’ll come to admire HMF for what it is anyway. The impressive already outweighs the not-so-very by far even now. I just hope the next one will feature more “songs” again. Or the perfect mixture like on TM and AADAP.

oh I just found the Yes reference in Gullible. It’s just before the duet comes in, a soft Close to the Edge synthi figure. hooray.
So I finally got it. Mixed bag. I’m not as happy as most of you.
Starhammer:
Intro, main theme, verse and singing and ending woweeee awesome! Big times come a-rockin’. The jam part drags on for too long. Should end in the middle where it swells for a bit. [EDIT] no I take that back: the Krimsonite build up and the falling notes back into verse are at the rightest place of ’em all.
X-3:
Let there be Fireball. Cool. Getaway Special is a nice twist. Why does no one else do this? This is where this fruitcake is everything but generic.
Bomb-Proof:
Well a bit too busy and overladen I’d say. But most definitely a killer live.
Close your Eyes:
Very good. The delicate build up with piano and mellotron (I think) is wonderfully crafted.
W.B.A.T.:
Daring and great first minutes. But then a surprisingly – dare I say it – generic verse riff. Hmmmm… the ending though is sheer brilliance in classic MP style.
Gullible’s Travails:
Weird. I expected more, I don’t know why. I love the intro riff though. Bonedry to the skull even without drums to back it up. How do they do that? It’s even stronger than that Ocean In Her Eye opening bang. Then there’s again a bit of a generic riff in Part I, although it’s only an inch away from the mighty Nothing To Say riff. The singing is very impressive. The acoustic Nursery Cryme guitars with duet vocals is a winner. The big ending is a bit too much on the kitschy Beyond the Flood side. I thought it was going to be weirder and more varied. And the strangest thing about it is that it’s over so quickly. Feels rather like a 10minute track… oh and where’s that Yes/Fragile reference?
I got the CD so far and compared to LLM, I hear no difference in sound. I don’t hear where it’s better. A bit crispier maybe? Or have I definitely gone deaf by now…
not this guy again… oh, ignore feature. yay.
Yeah sure. I’d do that too if it killed me, but for now I’m still able to wait. Only peeked a bit into SH and GT.
I hope I get the CD tomorrow in the mail and/or the local store gets the vinyl.
Of course it’s him. My childhood superhero.
thanks dearly.
stickman sells some too btw.
Quote:Downloading at MEDIAMARKT does not work!!!!you can´t add it to your cart, it´s a bug! if you put it on your notepad and then click on buy, all of a sudden it costs 9,99EUR. So fuck that anyway!
Ha, teh LOL!
I don’t know but it makes it even stupider.
For the guy who bought the vinly yes. But he’d still support this non-transparent policy. But I don’t want to preach or something, it just doesn’t feel right. What if it was ten cents but “legal”…?
Anyway, I got a rapidshared leak, I don’t know if it’s the one with the poor quality. I am allowed to do this because I ordered CD from stickman and will also buy Vinyl at the local store (
with a halo above) but I only listened to Starhammer, the 2nd track and Gullible yet. A bit underwhelmed so far, I must say. Happened for the second time ever with a new Motorpsycho record. The other one was LTEC. But here’s hoping for growing.
Because there are only 6 tracks. This download pricing policy is so unbelievably stupid. I hope you guys don’t support this.
