The gig sth like 2:50 h, and yes, the setlist was fantastic! Pretty much what I had hoped for. We got a massive and very fast Flickofthewrist, which was nearly 15 minutes, I think. Great to hear Wearingyrsmell, too, first time for me! It was that mellow version with Bent on guitar and both Snah and Kenneth on piano which they've played before on this tour. I liked Blueberrydaydream a lot, it came along rocky and was quite long (about 10 min?), much like Spinspinspin. Junior is a hit and Feedtime a monster, I wouldn't mind at all if they kept those two in their permanent repertoire.
The encores were special, Un chien was about 25 min and the fastest (in the middle) I've ever witnessed! After they'd finished I didn't think they'd play HBM2 but they did! Took another 25 min, during which the audiance was very attentive and quiet. That was nice for a change after some quite annoying audiances in the last years.
Only downer: the sound, at least where I was sitting, up on the "gallery". In some songs I had trouble hearing Snah at all.
Other than that, it was a brilliant show with the band in a great mood, and a worthy last show in Germany. Keep those "vintage" (Bent) songs in the setlists, guys, they're what make your shows so special to me. Thanks a lot! CU next tour!
:STG:
3 songs from TM, 3 from DB, yeah! Plus Year Zero and Un Chien! Can't wait for tomorrow night.
I'm thrilled to learn they've played Wearing your smell! Didn't think I'll even get a chance to hear that one live, they haven't played it in ages, except for the TM gig a couple of years ago. And now it's back! And I'll be in Oldenburg, yes!
Blueberry Daydream! 8O Great! How was it? Surely not purely acoustical…
BBD and Un Chien as the first two songs again, that's one hell of a way to open a concert! Would love to see that in Oldenburg.
Looks like a long show. Was it 3 hours?
On the downside, however, were some chatty groups of people in the audience that were quite annoying. There were also quite a few "Yihaaaa"s and other funny cheers, most of them completely misplaced.
Before the encore, Bent said, "If you want rocknroll, go to the bar, this one is different". Don't know if that was a reaction to those annoyances.
It's right there, Bronyaur, 4th post from the top.
Well, HBM I is listed.
And it says in the comments it was the debut of Nothing to say, so they didn't play it the night before in Tromso although it was on the setlist.
Did they play Nothing to say?
For those of you who are interested, here's a link to a silent film of Lovecraft's tale The Call of Cthulhu. It's from 2005 but shot in the manner of silent films of the 1920s: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4n2EOenVo4
The quality of this version isn't the best but you can easily find better versions on various platforms whose legal status is at least questionable and which I therefore don't wanna mention here…
There are quite a few other film adaptations of Lovecraft stories, most of which sadly don't live up to the tales they're based upon. This one, however, is very close to the original story and also considered a decent work in terms of cinematography.
Wow, karmadrome, that is some impressive work! The box is very cool, and the pictures you've chosen totally fit! How much time did you invest to do that?
I think CD 1 and 2 are great! Could have been my choice. On CD 3 and 4, there are too few old songs for my taste.
But still: great work!
Quote:I had three copies of the 1st edition of Lobotomizer. I've kept my original one, which I bought when it was released. I got the other two copies for 10-15 euro each at 2nd hand stores here in Oslo many years ago, and then I traded them for other MP goodies in recent years. From my point of view, that's a pity! But I probably would have done the same thing. If you ever get hold of another copy, try to think of me, please!
Well, that's not my cup of tea.
Hi petterfe,
wow! That's one informative post! Thanks for all the info, which was all news to me!
Man, I'd really like to have one of thoses Lobotomizer LPs…
Hahaha, just read this now in the SID.Prog Magazine article:
"… dramatic journey that feels bound to the slow movement of stars, connected to something that is ancient and steepd in ritual and leading to an inevitable, cathartic denouement."
That actually sounds quite like Lovecraft! For him though, it would have been "doomed" instead of "cathartic"!
