I digitalized it myself too, btw. It’s not that difficult to do. But I won’t upload it, that should be left to others (for instance MP themselves ).
@GBD: Yeah well, doesn’t bother me either (not liking the album that much), there’s plenty of other stuff to listen to…
Anyway, how you might see it, I’m certainly not wrong. It’s just my opinion and nobody has to share it. Good for all of you who like the album more than me!
So, I’ve got my CotF (AND already on my ipod, long live technological evolution!), I’d say I heard better albums by them… this one is somewhat LLM with shorter songs and the muddy sound of BHBC. I’m not impressed (and that is not to thwart your high expectations, GBD ), but there are surely some nice tunes and riffs on there.
Oh and not to forget: the artwork bites. What the hell was Kim thinking?
I suppose this will not happen (at least not so soon) as the Damon Box publishing rights are probably still held by Voices of Wonder (their old label) and they are/were not on good terms. Additionally, Motorpsycho aren’t fond of mp3s, as far as I know.
“they have chosen to release this album on vinyl only, at least for the time being.“
*that* sounds promising too.
Hm, I dont like it, but MP covers where never that much my thing. The music counts, anyway.
Yeah, its nice !
I like PJ Harvey a lot. Just recently I gave her albums a spin again (I own all of them up to “Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea”).
Seeing Nick Cave live at the Southside Festival was a blast. He is just an incredible performer and frontman and the Bad Seeds are and amazing band and very, very loud, too. Songs like “Tupelo”, a more brutal version of “The Weeping Song” and “Stagger Lee” are just crazy.
@”Babe I’m Fire” – yup that’s a good one. Unfortunately that’s from the last album with Blixa Bargeld. However, as I love the current one “Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!” also (and a lot, too) I think The Bad Seeds will remain relevant for a long time to come, even considering that founding member and driving force Mick Harvey recently left the band.
Currently three bands are high on my play counters:
– Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds; as I am trying to complete my collection of his vast musical output, which is not an easy task by any means. –> http://nickcaveandthebadseeds.com/
– Terry de Castro; well, not a band, but rather the bass player of The Wedding Present, Goya Dress & Cinerama. “A Casa Verde” is her first solo album, filled with great folksy tunes. Very lovely, very recommended. –> http://www.myspace.com/terrydecastro
– The Dø; This unusual and eclectic duo from France got me when I saw them playing live at the Southside Festival a couple of weeks ago. I bought their album “A Mouthful” and that contains a large range of different styles. However it is more on the melodic/poppy side mostly and the voice of the (female) singer is one I needed to get used to first –> http://www.thedo.info/DO/
I bought “Tio Bitar” and I like it. I really like the drumming, reminds me of Jaki Liebezeit (Can). Perhaps if after some more listens I like it still, I see into it to get the other records. They are quite cheap on amazon.
@supernaut: you’re right.
@gdb: i checked them out and they’re quite worth listening to, but now is not the time for this music (for me). i think i’d embrace them if i had a more psychedelic phase. but thanks for the recommendation.
edit: actually i just ordered “Ta det lungt”.
And it works just fine.
Serpentine.
@Child of the Future: I actually expected this to be delayed when there wasn’t an option to pre-order it by the end of May (while the releasedate was still June 2 or something). But what the hell, as long as it won’t be delayed as long as Haircuts, we’ll all be fine I guess
@GDB: gotta check them out sometime. But first I’ve just bought a LOT of cds that were on sale and now I’m swamped with music I gotta listen to. Cool thing ‘tho.
btw, Trust Us fits on a single disc actually. I’ve done that sometime. You can get ~82 minutes on a CD with the “overburn” feature
Also I’ve seen some CDs with up to 90 minutes of music on them (for example “Livealbum of death” by Farin Urlaub Racing Team – single disc, 87:45 minutes).
And concerning on doubles and triples: well it depends. Sure sometime you’ve got a great batch of great tunes but sometimes it’s also better to just pick the best ones and make a homogenic short album. I like both.
@krist: I like Neverland and Composite Head.
Also I’m very fond of what you all call “the pop albums” (well, the definition of pop may be wide, but for me it’s still a long shot from phanerothyme to madonna).. but I also like the other ones.
So…worst album? Lobotomizer. For explanation please see GBDs posting
And overrated? Personally, Trust Us — while most people view it as MPs best, I like it a lot but would rate perhaps 6 or 7 MP albums above it.
btw, stalemate: Serpentine is one of my favourite MP song. Give the lovely soothing tune a chance
@otherdemon: I agree, the Serpentine B-sides would have fitted on Love Cult. I wouldn’t necessarily throw out songs, but still include the B-sides.

Actually this just reminded me of a thread I once started: http://motorpsycho.fix.no/comeonin/oldforums/read.php?1,18714,18714#msg-18714
