One thing I noticed about the 2CD: Some of the song titles are spelled differently.
Lucifer, Bringer of Light is instead Lucifer (Bringer of Light)
While Laird of Heimly is The Laird of Heimly on the 2CD.
No big deal, but a nice little detail whether intended or not
@deusvlc: Yes, received the double CD in Oslo yesterday.
Who’s responsible for the artwork this time?
@Ratmaus: Just received my copy at the post office now.
Cover design by Johan Harstad, masks made by Peder Ofstad.@Johnny Heartfield: Bed of Roses is a good song. But I kinda agree with the review that said Bent sounded pretty whiney on that one. I know it was a conscious choice, just don’t think it worked out 100% in that case.
Heimly is the superior track of those 2 IMHO. Lovely string arrangement.
Well, what’s there to say? Another MP classic in an already stacked discography.
There are some nitpicks tho: Some of the songs are less spectacular. I suspect I will feel the same about The Comeback as On A Plate: Boring on record, but a blast live. Kip Satie never stood a chance, being a 2 minute interlude before Balthazaar. And 3Monkeys is way too similar and less interesting than the other krauty tracks on here.
Highlights: Lucifer (that mid-section is danceable and has a lot of drive), Friends of Heimly, Balthazaar (those last 4 minutes, god damn!), Neotzar (best 20+ minute epic since Gullible?) and Dead Of Winter (beautiful ‘normal’ song to end the album)
Bleak lyrics, but they fit the music pretty well.
Great guest appearances that add a lot to the songs. Ingvald especially shows diversity in his drumming, doing simple drum patterns in the shorter songs while also showing off with more complex shit in the longer ones
Privileged to still be a part of this creative trip some 30 yrs later
Starting my 2nd listen now. 1st listen at midnight was a very overwhelming one.
Lot of krautrock in this one, basically all the long tracks!
Loving Snah’s guitar solos here, especially in Lucifer, Neotzar and Dead Of Winter. This will need quite a few listens, but I think this is a grower, for sure.
Midnight comes closer. Hoping for the record to be online on time
It will. The countdown has already started on Spotify.
Unfortunately my copy of the album hasn’t arrived in my mailbox yet.
So the digital premiere will be my savior this time.Posten-tracking still says: waiting for package to be delivered to us, for shipping…. (has said so since last Sunday)
I haven’t even received a tracking number, so you know more than me
Woohoo, just got an e-mail from the MP Shop that my order has been shipped
Building up expectations while patiently waiting besides mailbox…
God bedring, Snah!
I wouldn’t be surprised if the spring tour
is delayed/postponed tbh.On the Norwegian store site, there’s also listed:
Black 2LP (Norway/Tour Exclusive)
So if you want a regular black vinyl it will be available
on tour, I guess. Thanks Elvin. Damn, basically the Bent Sæther show this one. At least Snah co-wrote the 2 longest tracks, so really looking forward to those. And glad to see Bed of Roses is by Bent and not Bon Jovi
And wasn’t Laird of Heimly played live once or twice?
Nice guitarwork by Snah (as always) in the second half.
Catchy enough.Tracklist

Great version. Let’s hope they try it live as well. Snah on the flute I’d guess.
