And fellow Psychonauts…..just think about all the fantastic live material the Sæter-Ryan-Kapstad trio has produced in recent years! This RW will surely be something very special. Imagine if they threw in a DVD of the TM@Øya 2010…..the cameras were there and did capture the whole gig…. :MPD:

I love music, jamming and creating, but time is too limited these days with kids, work etc so listening to music has first priority, then playing. I'm always interested in jamming, but my friends that play instruments are in the same situation as me unfortunately. I've sold some amps and guitars the during the last ten years so this is what I'm left with:

    Electric

Epiphone Sheraton (Japan made in the early 70'ies)

    Steel string

    K. Yairi WY1 (Bob Weir signature model – great sustain and sound)

    Nylon string

    Alhambra 11P (fantastic to play)

In addition I've got a electric mandolin and a three octave midi keyboard attached to a computer running Cubase with a variety of nice VST plugins.

Thanks for taping and sharing Armitage! What a great gig! Like a bulldozer from start to finish. Heavy shit :MPD: I really like "Leslie's Vest" and agree with Alex that the "never go back" part is very dark/mysterious/wierd. Kind of sums up the dark mood of the whole song. The general dynamics of the gig is awesome and it really fits the 90 minutes format (not for a Psychonaut of course….we always want more!). But I mean, 90 minutes of MP in this mood is mindblowing and exhausting. The segues are done very nicely indeed. Snah provides some really great guitarwork……… :MPD:

Give us more live Motorpsycho!!! We want a new tour!!!!

Thanks for reporting! The setlist looks very nice and it sure sounds like a cool gig. If there's a recording, I'd vote for seeding it from the Motortrades tracker :-). Hope we get some live MP action in south eastern Norway soon.

    cheers,

I`ve been a follower of MP since mid the 90ies and been to 30+ gigs. I must admit that tonight was incredible. Seeing Geb on the stage got me quite emotional and that was not to be the last time this night. The set started of quietly with Feel and continued on as noted earlier. TM is such a flawless album, just highlights all the way. I guess the first real highlight was Watersound. During the buildup, around 100 gees flying in v-formations flew into the sunset kind of signaling the great climax about to happen. Giftland was just amazing sending chills down my spine. Then it all started happening. From The Wheel and onwards everything was magic and monumental. Imagine the enomrmous contrast beetween a 20 min huge Wheel and the fragile Sungravy and then Grindstone!!!! Incredible. An then to be topped off with the a monumental and nerve shattering Golden Core. Tears were indeed finding their way down my cheeks. I was almost paralyzed. Hanne Hukkelberg sang the duet with Bent and MY GOD did that sound amazing! The harmony was fantastic. Hair rising from the first note. I cannot recall a more emotional, almost religious, moment when listening to live music. It really got me. One of my friends commented “this must have been like what people felt like witnessing PF live at Pompeii” (commenting the last 30 min of the gig). And i kind of concurr. The live “festival format” in the open really gave the wall of sound build up the perfect setting. And, call it cheezy if you wish, during the extatic moments of The Golde Core, a huge mirror ball was raised behind the band. A multitude og light sources were directed at it (flashing) creating a pretty cool lighting effect. I just wished the TGC riff would go on and on. Finally we get a fantastic MP concert in Norway too :). Well, time to go to bed. The MP gig was worth every cent of the festival ticket. I think they must have gained a lot of fans tonight. Sail on Psychonauts!!!

I finally managed to get a ticket for Saturday after checking Finn.no every 10th minute. I’m guessing this will be an immense MP experience in a picturesque Norwegian sunset. Can’t wait!!!! Motorpsycho with two drummers :MPD: Really cool to se Geb and Kenneth playing together. Wonder if they’ll get a replacement for Anneli on The Golden Core….maybe Hanne Hukkelberg? If not, it doesn’t really matter. I think the renditions of TGC played on the Europeean tour were pretty awesome anyway. Got my bones shivering at least.

GREAT review Alex! I almost felt like being there when reading it. It must have been almost a religious experience for any Psychonaut by the sound of it. The thing about Motorpsycho is that they also can play a concert like this with a completely different setlist. Thank you Motorpsycho for pushing on and performing better than ever!!!

Listening to this great recording right now. Bloody awesome! What a gig! The Mountain version in this gig is so cool. They even mix in some of the coolest bonechilling parts from the “Nothing to say” solo played in the late nineties (or was it early 2000?). I wonder if it just come into Snahs mind at the time? Very cool.

Thanks to Motorpsycho and the tapers!

The lack of dates in southern Norway is getting me depressed. Come on MP! And why not at Sentrum Scene this time.

in reply to: Motorpsycho and Supersilent tour #12106

Last evening I attended the Motorpsycho+Supersilent gig in Fredrikstad. I was not disappointed. Generally speaking it was a 1h 50min long jam without breaks, ranging from very quiet to extreme noise and the good old “wall of sound”. The soundscapes created were sometimes really magic and the extreme buildup in the finishing song was fantastic and giving me the good old goose bumps. The dynamics of the gig was as I stated before, extreme, like huge waves washing onto shore. They also managed to add the whole of “The Bomb-Proof Roll and Beyond” from HMF (containing a great Snah jam!) and a part from the LLM suite (very cool and intens build up and ending, and a cool merge with the following theme). The sound was good, but WAY too loud. My ears are still ringing. The music was also very nicely accompanied with a cool light show. A net hanging down in front of stage was used as a transparent canvas for projecting images and light effects. Really cool. I definitely recommend this to any Motorpsycho fan. But,of course, it’s not a Motorpsycho concert. Those are yet to come.

    cheers

I’m sure that I read an interview claiming they’ll be playing some Norwegian “Motorpsycho only” gigs right after the Rikskonsertene tour. Can anyone confirm?

I think the snippets played in “Kulturnytt” sound very promising.

Just ordered the vinyl from Rune Grammofon. Can’t wait! Bought my LP player just because of COTF. Now I’m hooked on vinyl!
