I just got my vinyl copy from Stickman after reviewing it from a CD and I think the "etching" is beautiful, one of my favourite tracks on a killer album, really ties it together nicely. Really loving Kvaestor and Entropy too. My review was a bit of a rush job too (I review 30-40 records most weeks) and clumsily written but I still stand by it otherwise.
I've reviewed this for Norman again, as usual. You can read my words here: http://www.normanrecords.com/records/145397-motorpsycho-behind-the-sun-
I see it! Very cool.
I'm really looking forward to this album coming out: http://lospecadores.bandcamp.com
Mr Hands, that's cool, I'm surprised they still have copies of that left over! I got that when I bought the special edition BH/BC, and thankfully with these ones they sent me a copy of the eggplant-airship poster I so wanted. Delighted.
Picked up Death Defying Unicorn on marbled green vinyl the other day as well, what a treat!
Rune Grammofon are distributed by Cargo here, but their titles tend to reach shops at least a month after release and with little to no fanfare. I'm not sure why it takes so long, at the shop where I work we're still waiting on our SLWE vinyl!
Beautiful! I especially want the Zippo.
Right, my tickets, flights and accommodation are booked! Norway here I come! Anyone in Trondheim fancy grabbing a drink and maybe showing me and my brother some of the sights?
I was absolutely gutted when that idiot threw his jacket at the end of the Garage show last year, what a sour note to end such a fantastic concert.
themetalunicorn, yes, their distribution here is lousy (I work in a record shop and have been known to order my own MP records online from Stickman/RG to get my copy weeks before they get distributed to us), there's a few weeks' delay for all RG stuff for some reason – basically we get different release dates in the UK to mainland Europe, and in this case delays even beyond that. That doesn't mean they owe you a concert or they're "not looking after their fans" though. The fact is that they don't have nearly as many fans here as elsewhere and it doesn't make sense to come here and play to 50 people, either using inferior gear than you're used to or bringing over the gear and crew you're used to playing to 2000 people with.
Put it this way…if you played in a band who were successful in Britain, and you went over to Norway four years running and nobody seemed interested, would you be abandoning your Norwegian fans if you decided to stop going there and concentrate on places where people were actually excited to see you? I think here in Britain we can get ridiculously self-important about this kind of thing. Why are we so important that every band in the world is obliged to come here and perform for us?
A UK tour would be great at this point, though. I've certainly noticed more friends of mine getting turned on to them lately so I think they might be surprised at the response, especially given that so many people over here have been waiting a long, long time to see them play.
@Un.chien.d.espace – Small world! Hi Steven! I hope you kept that picture, I think it's my favourite of all the drawings I've done for customers (although my recent one of Dave Grohl riding a camel through the desert went down well)!
@Tomcat – They didn't press nearly enough of that Malkmus LP, and besides even if I could get you one and was allowed to save things for people I wouldn't because it would open the floodgates and suddenly everybody would want a favour! Hope you find one but to be honest your best bet is discogs at this point…there's copies of the slightly less rare US press going for less than £50 which under the circumstances is probably as fair as you'll get.
Thanks! There's an unchiendespace on Twitter who I drew a picture for, is that you?
I've heard this trilogy theory before, and I think it has some substance but there are albums which don't fit with the sequence, such as SLWE (surely this recent "prog trilogy" would be LLM, HMF and TDDU)…but where do COTF and BH/BC fit in?
Not to blow my own trumpet or anything but I wrote some words about the record for the shop I work for: http://www.normanrecords.com/records/139403-motorpsycho—still-life
It looks like I'll be coming over from England for this! If anybody has any recommendations for places to stay and things I need to do while I'm in Trondheim they'd be very much appreciated.
that looks great!
wow! is there any sign of what day they’ll be playing?! i really want to fly over for this (i live in england) but i don’t think i could afford a ticket for the full weekend.
