Twenty years ago on this day in 1991 Motorpsycho played their first ever show outside of Norway! This concert — the band's 30th show up to that point — took place at Barbue in Copenhagen and was the first date of a mini-tour of Denmark that also included shows in Aalborg and Ã…rhus. In Copenhagen the band played a fantastic and heavy set highlighted by a five minute punk version of "Mountain" as well as the concert debuts of "Lake Innersfree" and "Into The Sun"! The former is a prog-monster which was only performed a total of five times. The middle jam of this piece was later integrated into "Mountain". A studio version of "Lake Innersfree" cut in 1994 was released on the "Timothy Monster" reissue. "Into the sun" however would turn into a genuine MP classic which would not leave the setlist rotation up to this day. Fortunately this sparsely attended night in Copenhagen was captured to tape providing us with a valuable historic document: This recording is the third earliest concert tape of Motorpsycho available (preceded only by Trondheim 29.04.1990 and Bergen 24.10.1991).

Yes, the first dates should probably appear before too long. For example negotiations are underway for a show in Berlin on 13.04., 14.04. or 20.04.2012. :o)

The correct term would be "counterfeit" in order to not confuse it with otherwise unreleased stuff. Sometimes these counterfeits will become rarities in their own right, though.
It just wasn't right to not limit the amount of LPs sold per persons to 1 or 2 items. Really makes you wonder why they didn't think / care of this.
What does Bent say during "The Alchemyst" at the beginning of the jam, around the 6 minute mark? Is anyone able to decipher that? Some strange spoken word thing there…

Fun story: The very first time I traveled to another city to see a MP-concert was in 1999 (after seeing three Berlin shows in 1996, 1997 and 1998). The "Roadworks I"-tour was making its way through Europe but did not stop in Berlin. So I traveled to Dresden to experience the band at the late Starclub. After the show I bumped into the owner of "Freak out", my record store in Berlin where I had bought all the band's records up to that point. He was there with a bunch of friends who had driven from Berlin together to see the show. They had a spare seat in the car so they offered me a ride back home directly after the show. I happily agreed and ended up on the backseat with those guys who turned out to be genuine psychonauts. One of them was called Armin and he told me he sings in some band who I didn't know: BEATSTEAKS. I had never heard of that band and only later when they got big I realised it was him with whom I had shared a car-ride after an amazing MP gig exitedly discussing that 45 minute version of "K9" the band had played as first encore.
Even though they are huge local heroes I don't get their music, I actually think they outright suck (although this song is okay) — but at least they listen to cool music. I wonder if Armin still goes to see MP…?
