There are a lot of interesting articles and interviews on the media stories page. This one for instance: interview with Geb 1999
About the recording of LTEC:
What can you tell us about the album you are currently recording?
"This time we have been very focused on the goals we had from the writing/rehearsing process. Every song was tried out in all kinds of arrangements before we went into the studio, and almost every detail was planned and tried out on 8-track demo versions. No Mellotrons this time, so we had a musician named BÃ¥rd Slagsvold helping us writing the notes/arrangements for strings, trumpets and horns and more. he also conducted them in the studio and did piano and 2nd harmony singing. This is gonna be joyable for your ears only!!!"
Excellent news indeed! I wonder what kind of record whe get this time.
@Punj Lizard: yes you can trust them to put out a new record (almost) every year.
This news makes me want to go to the Doornroosje show even more, considering that they may play new songs then.
Great that they played the Wheel.
Was Reine with them?
Yeah the sound was excellent. Much better than in Alkmaar. Highlights all over, with The Tower as the ultimate climax.
A review (in Dutch) & some pics here: 3voor12
The Dutch are being spoiled this year :STG:
So, two gigs this weekend! What to expect from Molde Jazz? This might be a very special gig, just like in 2002 story + setlist Since Ole Kvernberg i playing with them, will they play Unicorn stuff? Covers? Really hope someone makes a recording.
I will be at the Welcome to the Village festival. Really looking forward to seeing the guys play at this great festival. Lots of other cool bands too. Still wondering if they bring K. Lo with them.
@Spokje: the timesheet says 2100 – 2200. 2230 would be better but that's not what i see.
I think Taifun is from the Zwolle gig because it is how i remember them playing it. I think.
They are playing from 2100 – 2200 at the Welcome to the Village festival. Which is way to short but you can't have everything in life.
Does anyone know if they are bringing K. Lo to Leeuwarden?
June 22, 2018 at 08:15 in reply to: When it comes one day to the L.T.E.C , P-thyme and I.A.L.C Special Editions.. #33030I totally agree Jero, all the boxes are amazing thus far and ridiculously cheap so keep em coming indeed.
It wouldn't surprise me if they included Barracuda in the LTEC box since it's from the same sessions.
Also, on the Tussler DVD you can hear some stripped down demos made by Bent. I would love to hear those one day. All in all, if they want they can go on releasing stuff from the vaults forever.
@Kid A Yes i would be great if they included more songs that weren't on a RW release before. But, and i am just speculating here, it could very well be that if they hadn't include Un Chien this release wouldn't be this long but 80 mins like the other volumes. I love this version, and Colgogne is great too. Is it better than the version on RW1? No i don't think so. I think that one i the ultimate version. But it's pretty awesome to have a version that is this good in this audio quality with half of the band new and recorded almost 20 after the RW1 version.
I hope for many many more RW releases in the future. There are a lot of songs that deserve to be released and a lot of tours too i think.
June 21, 2018 at 13:30 in reply to: When it comes one day to the L.T.E.C , P-thyme and I.A.L.C Special Editions.. #33027I have a feeling that after the Trus Us box (which i really hope to come out somewhere this year) there isn't that much extra material per album to add. But i off course hope that is not the case.
I received my copies of 3 & 5 yesterday. Very happy with both of them. First of all, the packaging is beautiful as always! Love the liner notes too.
I am very pleased with the song selection on RW5 and like i said in the Hedon show topic i really really love Kristoffer Lo's playing. He adds so much to these songs, especially in Taifun. There is so much happening in this record. Amazing. Really far out. Only highlights. What a fantastic record.
Very happy with RW3 too. Not new since i already own the Haircuts DVD but nice to have this on vinyl. Since i was at the concert and have real fond memories of this magical night this release feels as a present. Absolute highlight is off course Hogwash, although there is lot's of magic happening on this one. Stained Glass, STG, wow. I also really like the version of Little Ricky Massenburg. The moment Geb left his drumset to sit uo front. I remember him saying sorry for his dirty feet. They had been playing soccer in the Vondelpark in the afternoon. Relaxed vibe on that show which you can really hear and see.
Since my turntable has some issues (again) i am very pleased that the download i available in several formats, including flac.
From the Stickman site:
Those of you who will be getting Motorpsycho’s Roadwork 5 triple LP later this week will find a “special feature†on your LP that is not evident at first glance, and which was very much unplanned.
The band had a special request, which was to press the sides as follows on the three vinyl discs:
Disc 1: Sides 1 and 6
Disc 2: Sides 2 and 3
Disc 3: Sides 4 and 5
A little bit of time travel, so to speak.
The pressing plant followed these instructions to the letter…. until it came to the labels. They are glued onto the discs in the normal order of 1-6.
We will do our best to have them “get†this with the second pressing, which is in fact being ordered today. And for the rest of you: enjoy your misprints, which will be sought-after rarities soon.
Strange. Reminds me of the original Woodstok 3lp which has 1/6, 3/4, 2/5.
@Mefisto: only the Rune edition includes cds unfortunately.
Btw, could Taifun be from the Zwolle show? I was there and remember it being about this long and including a flugel solo.
Cool! Some other nice bands as well. I am thinking about making that a weekend to Maastricht trip.
