In Germany we had a much better offer with Stickman – moderate shipping costs, and even the double albums hardly ever touched the 30 € limit. Not necessarily just a question of vinyl cost inflation.
I respect MP’s decision to take business into their own hands – but it comes with a substantial rise in album prices, probably due to distribution issues.
At least the concert prices are still very reasonable. I’ll probably rather get one more MP show and instead wait to get the album there without distribution costs, even if waiting is quite hard for a diehard MP fan…Fuck! Get well soon, Ingvald! Be patient though – even if this means to cancel a MP tour.
Waiting for the tour to hopefully get a reasonably priced black copy? This is BAAD News. But still – better than nothing.
@ Rolf: Good point – the band has the final say in giving uploading o.k.
As the process is so slow, it is most important that we spread the uploading activity as broadly as possible. I’ll start uploading this weekend. Thanks for your uploads so far!
@ suntripper: Not every rejection of established corporations, shitty or not, makes you far right. But probably righteous ;-)
Alright – Let’s go!
Lots of work ahead – transferring all those recordings from hard discs and torrent sites to the Motorpsycho space on archive.org. And a few rules to stick to (see info on MP page and archive/etree requirements). But no rocket technology involved, as far as i can see.
In order to lift a little weight from the shoulders of those pillars of MP recording and trading that have almost singlehandedly managed a great part of distributing and uploading on the torrent sites (I salute you!), it might be useful to spread the uploading activity for the new MP database a little wider – agreement and permission of the original recorders and distributers provided. If possible the original creators of live recordings should be named and tagged. Please let it be known if that is alright four you, all you heroes of Motorpsycho concert documentation!Yep, Herzberg is always nice. On the other hand I can sample four or five MP concerts alone for the price of a Herzberg ticket. But I won’t put down Herzberg – the atmosphere and joy of that festival makes up for high costs and sleeping in the mud ;-)
I can only repeat myself again: the solution to all those Motortrades, Dime and torrent platform problems in general is the projected MP division on archive.org. Hopefully this will soon be announced, and then please let’s all contribute as much as we can instead of repeatedly complaining – or being pestered by complaints and singular requests. Just wait a little and then let’s all join on Motorpsycho.archive.org or whatever the link will be.
If it all works out as being envisioned there will be no more point in desperate calls for access on a trade model that has outlived itself.

Though this might not be helpful in this case: It is high time the announced MP division on archive.org will be institutionalized and opened. Hopefully everybody is then willing to contribute and to transfer as much stuff as possible from private archives, dime and motortrades. I’m confident though.
@ Rolf: It appears to me this is a group of users per collection/band, as it says “volunteer FANS, who have proven to be in line with the spirit of THIS archive”. Who choses them or how you become one is beyond my knowledge though.
@ Rolf:
Beside/beyond uploading stuff yourself it would probably mainly be encouraging other tapers to upload stuff and manage the MP archive department, i.e. setting up a few rules, if needed, and monitoring uploads. Keep it as open as possible and share the uploading task as broadly as possible.
I would quite like to engage in this having some experience in platform and content management, but I have to protect myself from my own idealism sometimes (danger of burnout, health issues). So please forgive me if I add my clever advises but do not share the hard work…
Seems to be a big task – uploading videos & live recordings, managing access and supervising the community. Probably we could find a team of 2-3 people who will engage in this, authorization from the band provided. Any volunteers?
Those already feeding the DIME and Motortrades communities seem predestined for that job imho – probably give up the odd and increasingly non-working beloved old MPT platform instead?
Fuck. Did I start the odd anger theme again? Just wanted to reflect on cultural phenomena, as you do (says Lemmy). Please don’t let it go into allround bashing again. And no – just shutting the fuck up seems dumb as well to me.
But I agree – web forums are usually not the place for intellectual high-flying. Sad though.

You don’t look so young either, chien d’espace – I fear you might be an old white guy soon as well ;-)
Fuck – I hate those cheap classifications by age and peer group. Probably and excuse to avoid dealing with the deeper analysis of things. But maybe that’s what I’m doing with the tattoo phenomenon? Wondering…
As for lower class people: I’d sell my grandmother for a cheap pun, so no real insult meant. On the other hand I always like to muster all the arrogance and intellectual snobism available to despise obvious stupid mass behaviour and individual stupidity – which mostly isn’t a question of class, gender, race, age etc… Not that I consider tattoos just that. As for the individual: Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law. As a collective phenomenon though it is kind of unpersonal and subject to my – and any other person’s – interpretation.
And the latter has lead me to the observation, that tattoos have changed or change with the age of the bearer or the era he’s living in respectively. While the rediscovered tribalism of tattoos isn’t a new thing (therefore the word “tribal”), the motives and imagery obviously are subject to a kind of evolution in a socio-cultural (and age) context. And I specialize both in digesting imagery and analyzing their cultural relevance, so please allow me some stupid fake arrogance in this matter ;-)
