So, I wanna start giving you two songs. The first one is by the fantastic singer/songwriter Timber Timbre. If you like the song below I strongly recommend checking out his third album (from 2009), called simply Timber Timbre. Great stuff.
The other one's by the beautiful band Belle and Sebastian before they became a cheesy mainstream pop band:

I'm really interested whether some people here are into that kinda music too, or what other stuff gets the occasional spin on the psychonaut's record player…
Hey guys,
since MP are our common denominator it might be sensible to expect that there are other bands, too, which a lot of us know and appreciate and which are, veeeery roughly, similar to MP or at least to their sound or to their overall approach to music. Q.e.d., looking at some of the bands above.
However, since psychonauts are, by all means, people that are really interested in music, there's good reason to also expect quite a wide, eclectic range of musical styles that people in this forum listen to. So my suggestion would be to share a few favourite (or highly rated) bands that are – in whatever sense – as remote from MP as possible!
Great stuff, I guess. Pre-ordered. Even if I had not known anything about the contents, I would have ordered it just because of the allusion to Lovecraft's amazing and wondrously eldritch work! Cthulhu R'lyeh fhtagn!
They played "True Middle", too!
Overall, I agree with superstooka, it was an enjoyable show and also the guys seemd to enjoy themselves. Bent told the audience that their eqipment was lost on the way from Norway ("probably in Berlin", as he said) so that they only had one guitar each! That must have been a huge difference to their regular shows but they made the best of it.
Bent introduced "Sterling says" by saying that "this is world premier. We've never played this one live and tonight we're gonna… show you why!"
Most memorabel for me was STG which had a rather short intro/build up but a massive ending with two long jams. The sound was nearly perfect where I was standing (middle of the stage, ten metres away), except for Kenneth's voice once or twice which I could hardly hear. Imo, it was a rather rocky gig with a lot of hits and only some jams. Also, I didn't quite feel the magic that I'm used to from the indoor shows but that's probably due to the less intimate atmosphere and their limited playing time.
The end of the show (All is loniless) was quite special, too. They ended the song with the canon-like singing (much like the version of Roadwork IV) where the music dies away. In the end it was only Bent, Snah and the audience performing this part a capella. Very nice.
Jeez… I wish I'd been there! Glad to see though that so many dedicated psychonauts got to witness such an event.
@ Un.Chien. … It's slightly off topic but since you mentioned it I gotta ask: At which festival did you see the Steaming Satellites? Cause both Two Gallants and the Satellites played at the small festival this summer which I and a few friends are honoured to organize…
Since I don't speak any Norwegian, I, too, am totally up for an English version and willing to pre-pay if that's gonna be an issue!
I also know that mood when "The Ocean in her Eye" is considered the best song in the world. But I really don't like BH/BC! And never did.
@odindahle: It's a matter of taste, it's that simple. Imagine everybody loved and hated the same things – how boring a place this world were!
Hey everybody,
two weeks ago, I saw a concert which was a wonderful experience that I like to tell you about. I saw Leonard Cohen, and it was the first time for me. Before the show I was a little afraid that it might turn out somewhat detached, expressionless or dull because that guy's been about for such a long time. But hell, no! It was one of the most intense and emotional gigs I've ever attended (though obviously in a completely different way than MP-gigs are)! The man is 77 years old is still surrounded by a magical aura. The show lasted more than three (!) hours and contained a good mixture of his recent stuff (which I'm not familiar with) and his old hits (which I love). There were roughly 12.000 people in the venue and despite that hardly any blabbering. Highlights were – among many other – "Famous Blue Raincoat", "The Partisan" and of course "Hallelujah". During the latter, a lot of the people joined in singing which sent shivers down my spine. It was an absolutely fantastic experience which I'll remember for the rest of my life.
Btw, I love our food! And a pizza with banana, spaghetti and cucumber is not exactly representative for German food… at least I hope so! Haven't been in Bielefeld for quite some time.
@Un.Chien.d.Espace
So, there really is that prejudice about German food? If I may ask, where are you from? And if you're not German, is that a popular commonplace in your country?
Can other non-German psychonauts confirm this?
I'm just curious about that because I haven't heard that one before. I know we are supposed to have no humour and to be over-correct and so on but I've never come across the bad-food-thing…
Don't get me wrong: I'm not insulted or angry or anything like that. I'm just interested in prejudices. In fact, I like them as a phenomenon, I even think they're quite natural and normal, and many are even really funny!
Quote:judging something without knowing it, that's typical….where are you from, gyankumar?Well, to be precise, he didn't really judge it, he just said it "sounded" disgusting – which is fair enough to say. I agree on that one. What I find interesting is that bad food seems to be associated with Germany… In fact, here in Germany, we have a common prejudice saying it's the English who are supposed to eat a lot of crap! No offense intended, it's just a prejudice… Though I have to say I'm not a huge fan of blood pudding, f.ex.

Really? That's one daring enterprise! How many days are you looking at? I guess I'm gonna stay with a friend in Rostock and drive to Bad Doberan just for the day, very unfestival-like…
Good news: Zappanale confirms via email that they'll have day tickets at the doors, however not in advance sale. They also say there'll be enough. So I do get a chance to witness The Unicorn live, which I'm really happy about, especially after reading all the good reviews.
Edit: Tickets will be 68 euros, not exactly cheap if you only wanna see one band…
