Well, that was pretty awesome! Huge improvememnt overall compared to the KrachamBach gig. Stained glass was amazing, and many songs benefit from Kristoffer's contribution, especially the new ones. I have to say, I'm not a big fan of The Tower's heavier stuff but it all worked tonight.
From Heart Attack Mac onwards it was breathtaking: A massive Lacuna, followed by Ship of fools, both about 15 min, followed by a heavy and quite fast Wheel, which still went on for 18 minutes! And that wasn't even the end. ASFE isn't a song for me, I have to say (though it works live, no doubt), yet there was more than enough compensation for that by Plan#1, which was as good as ever.
Great show. Looking forward to Bremen now. Let the awesomeness continue! :MPD:

Hi there, welcome! It's part of the magic that the setlists offer surprises every night but you're right to expect a lot of the material from The Tower. They usually start touring with some 50 or so songs ready, so there's always old stuff. This time it might be a bit different for they've got a new drummer who isn't familiar their whole catalogue yet, I suppose.
I wouldn't dare predicting the chances of GTC. It's been in the setlists quite frequently for some time but I haven't heard it in a while now.
As for global superstars, it's a good thing they aren't, trust me :MPD:
Quote:As for your suggestion to save Timothy's Monster and especially The Golden Core for last, well I like the idea, but I'm just not sure I can hang on that long, at least not now that you've mentioned it. It's like telling a kid, 'don't open that cupboard'!I see what you mean but i still think you should try. It would be absolutely worth it!
Welcome to the Psychoverse! I envy you, my friend, for being about to discover MP's 90's gems. I'm one of those who rate those albums higher than the later stuff. Tthat's because they touch me (stronger). Musically, the later stuff might just be as adventorous, eclectic and demanding. And there's constant development. But I've come to think that I prefer the old songs because MP were in the twenties when they wrote them and I was, too, when I discovered them. A crucial time in growing (up). There's simply a very close emotional connection to their 90's music for me.
You know, if I were you, I'd listen to Timothy's Monster last, making The Golden Core the very last Motorpsycho song to encounter. That would be some finale!
Enjoy the trip!
Superstooge!
Indeed!
That sounds exactly like the KrachamBach setlist minus VS and AiL, which kinda fits since KaB was nearly 1,5 hours. However, I do hope there'll be some changes in the setlists of the upcoming tour.
Man, those are some tough questions…
Song: Golden core
Riff: Feedtime
Solo: I dunno… so many… Depends on the mood, I guess. At the moment, it would be Roadwork IV's version of Wishing well.
Songs to hook people on: It's gotta be more than one, really! I'd go for Walking on the water (as a glimpse of the short, rocking hits), then one of STG/TheWeel/Giftland (to demonstrate the other end of that wide, wide range), concluded by sth. new, maybe Hell 1-3.
It'd be great to see Psychonaut again some time, and 577, yes.
I'd quite like to know how they played Wishing well on that Italian show. Anybody here who was there? I missed it live when Roadwork IV was recorded. Man, that's another one I'd love to see, especially that version.
Cheers, kippenhok, that's quite useful. Yet it says "…played by year", so we have to know if they played other gigs earlier this year or if those numbers are from the HBM tour only. Cause I'm surprised to see Psychonaut there, and Wishing well! And Hogwash! Did they play those songs one night this tour??
The songs I didn't see in two shows would make some pretty setlists themselves. As always, very impressive!
No, I don't think 577 was played this tour.
So… the tour is over. Any concluding thoughts? For the guys it seems to have been a great one, judging from the few statements in those interviews. Well-attended shows, some sold out, people liking the new material, drummer hung in there despite a broken rib, shows in England and Poland, …
I saw two shows, one in the beginning, one in the end, and I'm quite satisfied. The new stuff worked well and we got to hear some classics, which I particularly enjoyed. Also great to see they still play for nearly three hours a night, which is quite something considering their age, I guess.
Couple of years ago, someone here did an amazing round-up of the songs played on the tour (which ones and how often), I'd love to read that for this one, too. Unfortunately, I neither have the time nor a mind to do that myself, so – to quote Homer Simpson – can't somebody else do it?
CU next tour!
Btw, in the middle of FLICK, Bent played the piano, did anyone recognize what he played? It seemed familiar but I can't point my finger at it.
