This was a brilliant show, best one I have seen from them in a loooong long time. Like people said already: band on fire, great sound, and the new drummer is fantastic, such energy, drive and joy.
I was so happy to also get a few songs from longer ago that I expected to never hear again live (Kill some day, Sinful & Windborne, Plan #1)

And of course the Effenaar, right here in my hometown Eindhoven where they played so many times in the 90s. Not sold out, but a nice, very engaged and enthusiastic crowd. Loved it! :stg:

It was kind of weird to see them on this stage, I did not know the show was moved there. I like it, much more intimate setting. But at the same time, a bit disappointing to see so few people attending in Eindhoven of all places…

I loved the show, even though I'm not all that crazy about the new album. This made me think twice. As always, great musicians, great show, and excellent encores! Looking forward to Tivoli this Saturday.

Great review Rolf, can't wait for the recording (hope it will somewhat approach the real thing)

There was a small interview with Snah in Eindhovens Dagblad on Saturday, titled "Eindhoven second home Motorpsycho". In it Snah says the new studio album is supposed to be finished in spring and is their own interpretation of a rock opera. He also says they will bring along many guests (musicians) to play with them. He would like to bring them to the Effenaar.

From my experience the Effenaar crowd is a rather chatty one, even for Dutch standards. Right around me (~10th row) is was ok but the murmur from the crowd in the back reaches far. No farting where I was but I had some onions too many myself ;-)

Not sure what you mean, the ticket for the LP was a separate one from the show ticket. The show ticket is indeed thrown away.

Great show indeed, I was totally absorbed. More rock than psychedelica, with some great improvisation. Setlist as such is not spectacular but practically every song was very much worth it. Junior was the biggest surprise. Bent introduced it by saying this was a song people who attended their earliest Effenaar shows (93/94) might remember and apologized for probably not knowing how to play it. I've always had a weak spot for this song, it's the one that got me into MP all those years ago and yes I did see it in those early shows. Never thought I'd see it again live… Show was a bit short for MP standards but hey, we might see them again in spring.

The other type of coffeeshop: there are a couple in and around the city centre. No experience with any of them so I can't tell you which one is best:

                        Grashopper – Grote Berg 22a

                        The Pink – Willemstraat 35a

De Bakkerij – Stratumseind 95 (the street with all the bars and many annoying people on a Saturday night)

In the Dommelstraat (where the Effenaar is) there used to be Flower Power but that is closed afaik.

LaFolie in the Vrijstraat is closest to the Effenaar I guess, but other than a mention on the site below I have never heard you can get "coffee" there. But that could be me…

The ones listed on top are in the centre of town.

That's one concert I regret having missed… I still remember it. Wanting to go, not going in the end… Fortunately we have the vaults of Motortrades to help us out.

Got my ticket as well, thanks to a good friend. What a concept, starting pre-order while I'm out on holidays…

Fantastic setlist… sad that Junior was left behind. This was the song that once got me into Motorpsycho. I rented the Demon Box album, listened to it, and did not think much of it at first. Some days later a tune has somehow caught hold in my head. It's the somewhat desperate sounding lyrics and the vocals. That was the beginning of a long journey with Motorpsycho that is still ongoing. Btw you can still see my feeble attempt at guessing the lyrics on a predecessor of our beloved MP pages at http://kmd.fupp.net/mpsycho1995/

                                Edit: playing it now… (memories)

Great album & very high quality recording, I'm impressed by how clear the sound is (makes the disclaimer on the back seem a bit odd). All the instruments are very distinct, the performance of the guys is simply amazing. I was a bit sceptic because of the track list (personal thing) but after just one spin all of that has gone. Great work!
