fantastic news. Looks like it isn’t really delayed then. Konkurrent, the dutch distrubutor has it listed for release on the 22nd of june now.
great news indeed. Shows in Norway only if i read correctly. I am considering a vacation to Norway. Sounds exciting.

I prefer them more psychedelic and experimental and less metal. The youtube clip otherdemon posted above, it might be the sound though, didn’t do anything for me. Not that I know it’ll appear on the album though…ah, from that point of view i can understand your opinion on that. But judging new material from live vids isn’t the best thing imo, when i first heard LLM from the State X New Forms i wasn’t that excited, but LLM turned out fantastic, both on record as live.
about the pre-order: i mailed Stickman about that and got a very quick an thorough response from Jeanette (what a fantastic label, and how friendly they are .
The release is being delayed a bit, because they are having some troubles with the cover. As soon as they know more they will place the news on their website.
Nothing to worry about i guess. Patience, patience, patience, and that is not my strongest point…..

I’ve read the dutch google translation (which is really funny but also quite a good invention, i can finally make something of articles like this) and it sure is interesting. Wow.
Funny that the whole article seems to be about that album and the proces of making it, and nothing on Child Of The Future. One would think this is the time to promote CotF.
Evol said: I’m so much more excited for this album than Child of the Future!
Why? We don’t know much about CotF, other than there are 7 songs on the thing and it was recorded by Steve Albini.
I really like the idea of a space-opera, and long songs, and jazzy influences, i am drooling all over.
That one is great. I’ve bought my copy a few years ago for quite some money, but it was defenitely worth it.
For some reason you can’t buy rare mp recordes that often on ebay anymore.
reviewers seem to make more and more mistakes. I went to see Shellac last week and in a review i red they didn’t play any new song (i counted 5) snd that the drummer was shirtless at one point. Well, i wasn’t on drugs or anything, but the drummer had his shirt on the whole gig. Strange.
hmmm, just what i was afraid of. De Konkurrent still has it listed for the second of june though.

Quote:Congratulations, guys! I’ve been getting a bit more work destined for vinyl lately and it’s not dance. Recently a hard rock project for vinyl only (!!!!!) of a pretty together band from Norway, Motorpsycho.__________________

So, a hard rock project. Sounds good to me. This guy also mastered LLM.
Man, i can’t wait for the new album. I am so curious, i feel like a litle child who can’t wait for his birthday present. But, it will soon enough be the second of june. The Konkurrent (dutch distributor) has it listed that date (www.konkurrent.nl, just scroll down)
I went to see Shellac last night, which was pretty fantastic obviously. I really had to hold myself back not to ask Albini about the new MP after their show….There is (was?) this big discussion about the format of the new album, but watching Shellac play i got so incredibly excited that Albini recorder Child of the Future. Most records he did sound so incredibly fantastic. I hope the cover will be a treat too (like the last Shellac record).
About the vinyl thingy, it is well known that Albini hates digital technology and cds even more. could it be that MP listened too the man, agreed and had something like, you are right, fuck cds, we will put out a gloriou vinyl lp only. But now i am speculating and i don’t want to set the vinyl discussion on fire again. I am just so excited, and full of questions. Will there be songs that we allready know (Close Yr Eyes to name one), will it be a single lp or a double lp, gatefold or not, short songs, long songs, questions question.
But i trust the band. Iam sure it will be spectacular. :MPD:
(ps i didn’t talk too Albiniat all, there was plenty oportunity, but i am the kind of person who is to shy to talk to an indie god like albini)
The Tilburg show is being discussed at the Roadburn topic, and the Haldern one….good one, i dunno where that one is.
o, and don’t be sad.
I love you too Harry, and i dig this discussion too. I can see that people here are pissed off and i understand. I just think it is ok that MP do whatever they want and release whatever they want. They never have been crowdpleasers imho. We all have been whining for more Roadworks (i for one have) but they didn’t listen. Instead they released the dvd, and LLM. Fine with me. I also think they have always been a vinyl minded band, although some of their releases have been cd-only releases. Some of the vinyl releases have had vinyl only bonus tracks and all…and compare the cd version with the lp version of Timothy’s Monster.
Good point in the other thread about the new lp, that people who ripp the album themselves will listen to inferiour quality. Does the band want that?
Perhaps it is selfish of me, but i only buy vinyl for years now and i am just so happy with any new MP vinyl release, so my opinion in this matter is in no way objective.
Let them do whay they want and whatever they feel is the best way to do things.I have always loved them for that an will continue to do so.
Hooray for Motorpsycho :MPD: :MPD: :MPD:

Quote:But why should I be forced to listen to vinyl when I don’t want to? That’s not leaving me open any choice to listen to the new record in a manner of my own preference – and that’s just mean.Agreed there, but isn’t that the same thing i, as a vinyl only non cd buyer, experience quite a lot more often. Mountain, Another Ugly EP, cd only….
and i am a long haired hippie too and i am soooo excited about this new release.
Fantastic news indeed, wow wow wow. Vinyl only, i really really like that. That’s just how it should be done. Can’t wait, i am really curious how the sound will be. Albini always delivers fantastic work, just listen to the Shellac records, or Surfer Rosa, or In Utero.
Oww and, i don’t think it will be an EP, considering the Stickman site says:
“At the beginning of June, Motorpsycho will be releasing a VINYL-ONLY album titled Child of the Future.”
Really funny title, Child of the Future. Deep Purple reference? :MPD:
13th of may, Shellac at Vera, Groningen btw. Am i looking forward to that…..good times!!
(voor de nederlanders hiero die zonder platenspeler zitten, ik heb hier nog een mooie staan die voor een zacht prijsje over te nemen is)
