This is only guessing, but I belive they own their own material. Didn't they learned how to make a good contract the hard way ( the Voices of Wonder conflict )
The box has shipped….
Quote:Is Vol. 4 not available on Rune on coloured vinyl? No, I think they still have the original press still available.
Vol 3 + 5 ordered. Exciting times as always! The Demon box box is supposed to come next week as well. :MPD:
@punj if you usually buy CDs, look at them as CDs with really awesome packaging.
Quote:Ratcatcher…..Eggplant is lacking that unique MP-feel in general IMO, some good stuff on it, but that song is a total train wreckHaha, that´s about the only song I like on that album.
Speaking of change my mind about: At first I really liked Spin x 3, It felt fresh and rather easy (in a good way) after years of heavy prog, but now it ranks among my least favorite mp songs, yeah, its just really boring. That might change as summer is coming though
Lovely boxset! I was at the concert and really looking forward to it! As Im Norwegian, i dont think its that expensive and i would have bought the LPs, the blueray and the books had they been sold separately or what ever anyway. But that said, find it kind of weird that they don't have a "standard" LP and CD option as well. Lots of people would probably double up and bought that one as well ( there s money to be made here motorpsychoguys!)

google translated to this :
At the moment, I finish an essay collection on "Demon Box", which will be released along with a live box for the 25th anniversary of Motorpsychos musical milestone, and Matt Burt's contribution to this album ("Plan # 1") was really eyes up for the album. There was a way to think of both text and music that hit me very much. That was the way I experimented with text and music myself that time, just that on this album it was so much, much better. However, "Plan # 1" is a difficult and problematic piece of music and text, far more than I can get in here, it will also fit into the essay collection. Burt's own text, still on the dictaphone, "Plan # 2" from the album "Grumpy Groovy" follows up far more quietly, and appears almost as a reflection of the ecstatic noise classic. However, it is also a useful example of how words can become music (similar to the discreet audio background in the background).
I dont think I would care to much about their previous preferences, as motorpsycho wont fit in anyways. Go for the best.
Give them both Trust Us and or Blissard. They are both, as we all know, two solid, diverse but coherent, albums. And, in the lack of a better word, very motorpsycho-ish. Also from what you describe very far away from their musical taste of today, so they might not have to much to compare them to… It will the best gift ever
Personally i dont think SS has the best selection of songs for a starter. Great liner notes though.
Excellent thread!
We already touched this topic tn the 2017-11-05 Live Club Trezzo d'Adda thread, so the need to uncover some crap songs is surely here. Besides, tour is over and the new album is not so new anymore, so what else is there to talk about.
I will elaborate on my list from said thread.
Barleycorn
-This song sounds like it is part of part of a musical. Nice enough verse, but the chorus, fy faen. And whats the deal with the vocal effect?
The Cuckoo
I dont even know where to begin. Unicorn style prog. But without "all that jazz" that made the unicorn somewhat entertaining. boom bi boom bi boom. Its not just boring, its annoying. And while were dissing the tower…
The Tower
– And I will quote myself: The Tower sounds like an uninspired Child of the Future outtake preformed during the Death Defying Unicorn quartet years. Maybe if they had an actual trondheim jazz orchestra play the dudidudiduu horns it would a least not sound so cheesy.
Neverland
-Come to neverland? No thanks. I like this type of 60s garage pop, but not by motorpsycho apparently. Others worth mention from this era: Go to C and What if…
Star Star Star
– More like Bore Bore Bore. Barracuda… I dont think MP do this rock n roll thing very good. Except you lied and ozone, which i almost hated before, but learned to love.
Mutiny
Unicorn style prog – that is reason enough I guess. MJUUUTAAANII
On a plate
Generic stoner rock. Would be an excellent b-side (on the imaginary Hell pt 1-3 EP ) but totally out of place on BtS. Also, it should be dirtier.
Come to think of it, I think Kvæstor is even worse: sportsrevyen prog
Since were having this discussion in this thread
Top 5 worst MP songs –
Barleycorn – sounds like it`s part of a musical
The Cuckoo
Neverland
Star Star Star
Mutiny!
Almost made it to the bottom:
The Tower
On A Plate
Afterglow
Vanishing Point
What if…
btw, this poll makes me think we should do another album cup someday
I think somewhere between 20-30 concerts, since 1993.
That setlist matches my memory as well. Fantastic concert! No big surprises on the set-list with a mix of classics and the tower songs. Great sound, loud but clear and they sang like angels. ASFE a really good opening song, and the especially when followed by some high energy rocksongs. Really good flow from rock songs to more jammy songs to boring progsongs to the epics. They really seemed to enjoy themselves, and Tomas Järmyr is a perfect match. :STG:
Absolute highlights: Superstooge, Intrepid, Heartattac Mac and K9.
Only drawback: The Tower and the cockoo, sigh, I really dont get the at all. They totally ruin an otherwise near perfect album. Theyre a bit better live, but still… The Tower sounds like an uninspired Child of the Future outtake preformed during the Death Defying Unicorn quartet years (I like those albums, just for the record) and the cockoo is just a terrible song (except the ending, which is lovely) This is what we have EPs for people! Lacuna/Sunrise is really beautiful on the album, but live it kind of gets lost in to much noodleling. Especially when placed between these two. I`d rather they played Neverland three times in a row, at least that would not last that long.
