Oof and three hours! You lucky guys!
Rocky brutal Other Fool?? I hope there’s gonna be a recording on dime.
(but it’s not on the setlist…?)
Another very nice one and very different setlist from the other swiss gig in Luzern. Starting off before Lacuna we got an ambient jam not unlike “Köln” from RV5. I’ve finally also got Balthazaar, CMC & Stanley. All three killer songs and highlights! Oh and a very intense Bed of Roses, too. Sound was great, a common thing in this venue. Had to leave for the last train before the encore, though.
Another great one. Surprisingly no Balthazaar, CMC or Stanley. Would have loved to get these but there’s Bern next week.
Instead we got great No Evil, Starmelt, Hey Jane, and fantastic versions of Yo-Yo and Manmower. Barleycorn was very enjoyable, too. A bit more edgy in the choruses than on record. Neotzar was a monster. The dual guitars in unison in Lucifer over the driving bass & drums was another highlight. Fool’s Gold is always beautiful but at the very end, the fade out, the salsa party from downstairs was audible. Weird but kinda funny. But maybe not the smartest move by the venue to overlap both events but ok. They gotta make money, too. I‘ve never heard Reine this well defined, standing in front of him. He IS amazing. Olaf was great, too. He and Bent had a lot of fun together.-

ah thanks for the heads up! Then I’ll have to rearrange a few things…
good afternoon, haha
What’s been the average show starting time on this tour? I’m not sure I can make it at 8pm tonight, which is the “official” show start according to the venue’s website. Feels kind of early, though…
Hm let’s see… Magpie, Captain, Stanley, For Free, Tiger > Pilgrim, The United Debased, Core Memory Corrupt, The Nerve Tattoo & Hyena
Along Balthazaar, Sonata, Neotzar & 3FM…
I’d love them to bring this set to Switzerland. Epics and short(ish) songs well mixed. Despite me telling everyone they’re the best live band in the universe to lure them along to the shows, for me the strength of Motorpsycho has always been the songwriting before everything else.
woah killer set, especially the 2nd half!
Balthazaar! haha
it’s quite common to be into both here in switzerland ;)
@conscience
Thanks! Yes, Roboter was fun to do and I‘m quite happy about it myself. And yes, Bent sent me the bass tracks.
@suntripper
I‘ve been a big fan of the Young Gods since forever. Even longer than MP since they’ve started out mid 80s. They are one of the best and most interesting bands of all imho. But I don’t have any personal/private connection to them. Except for Al Comet jamming with a band I used to be in before said jam.
It surely could be interesting, a collab between TYG and MP. I feel a similar mindset among them towards the art side of certain things. Breaking conventions and boundaries in what it means to be a rockband, dabbling in soundtracks, experimentalism and classical music and whatnot. I know MP are aware of them. About the other way round I don’t know.Uhmmm I thought this might would have stirred a bit more of an interest. Or it simply flew under the radar with all the MP touring news. So I shamelessly would like to point it out again if you please indulge me doing so.
Did an album with Bent – well he played on 6 of 10 tracks – and it’s here https://reponaut.bandcamp.com/album/the-dream-police-never-sleeps
For Free & Hyena! That’s pretty cool to get these nuggets, too.
Thanks a lot, Guybrush!!
Good move. Don’t know if it’ll arrive an Qobuz but it’s on Deezer https://www.deezer.com/en/album/694954241
and Tidal https://tidal.com/browse/artist/20828
and on bandcamp anyways.
