i’m pretty sure that bents 8-string was a normal 4-string on the previous tour (2009)… he must have had frank stavem modify it in between the 2 tours, or maybe for the recording of heavy metal fruit. hence the small mechanics, they were added afterwards. i guess (pretty weird that there is no pic on frank stavems site, the last one looks like it, but it had more of a les paul shape). just adding some info.

oh. my. god. if they could get chien to fit somewhere into that, that would be my dream setlist. it kinda makes brussels look… much less special.

it would be magical if you’d be able to provide the botanique recording somehow, the show was just awesome… i was there, standing right in front of snah :D with the gig yesterday probably the best motorpsycho gig i’ve been to… but unfortunately i have no idea how to share it :(

not much more to add… chien was simply mindblowing, the jam in sunship had one absolutely perfect moment, ppp was just sweet, giftland started out a bit boring, but later became HUGE. i was confused when they ended their first set with gullible’s, wondering what song could come in an encore after that… well, i guess it was the only possible choice :) had goosebumps all along. i’m so looking forward for recordings… any pictures? barbara?

to the guy with the white shirt and glasses that was dancing in front of the scene: screw you. (after a night of sleep i apologise for being so rude, but i really mean it…)

apart from that: great show, and my first show with s.t.g., which is probably one of my favourite songs ever… orgasmic. oh, and feel! so sweet.

well, with the ripping apart albums thing i might have overdone it, you’re right… but still, coming from an obvious vinyl fan, i think this is pretty strange :-/

please don’t get me wrong, that wasn’t even my main point. i like putting together playlists too, i listen to best ofs too… and if you want to make someone discover a band, it sure is a good idea. but here, it’s just the sheer amount of material he’s putting on there that scares me. i mean, it should be more or less representative and contain the most important songs, not literally taking almost all of the best songs… if you’ve listened to one “regular” best of (the hendrix collection contains about 20 songs), you still have a lot of material to discover. but with one containing 50 songs, while listening to the albums, for every second or third album it will be “oh yeah, i already know that song…”. and then again, on the singles collection they didn’t put songs like voodoo chile ;) (comparison to gullible’s travails, little lucid moments, etc…)

just for the heck of it, i’m putting together one too, as an example, i won’t give it too much thought, in no specific order (okay, chronologically)… in the thought that i want to give someone an idea about how motorpsycho sounds.

    nothing to say

    kill some day

    watersound

    sinful, wind-borne

    heartattack mac.

    ozone

    vortex surfer

    the ocean in her eye

    the other fool

    b.s.

    triggerman

    little lucid moments

12 songs, that was done in not even 3 minutes, just as a sketch. yes, i’ve even left out it’s a love cult or heavy metal fruit, even though i love these albums.

oh well, luckily this is a free world where everyone can do as he wants, even if it’s shouting out loud that someone else’s actions displease me :D

good effort, but if you’re going to give her 4 times 80 minutes of music (=320 minutes!), why not just give her one or two albums and let her get into it slowly? not only you’re ripping apart some amazing albums, but also you’ll crush with just the amount of music. why not just give her for example trust us, angels and daemons at play and, say, little lucid moments for their live sound. FOR EXAMPLE. and then let her get into it herself…

i’m not against putting together playlists or small best ofs, but a four cd compilation is just kinda ridiculous :-/ those are roughly 50 songs… personally, it would take away a lot of suspense while listening to the albums afterwards since i already know half of the songs. she’ll probably be listening to the albums later on anyways, and if she still wants a best of, she can put it together herself… i don’t know. my opinion, don’t take it personally ;)

nice idea. i haven’t paid much attention to the lyrics either, but my guess (after reading this) would be that the starhammer is some kind of god, or how people used to see god and how they tried to reach him when they started exploring space. like, god is somewhere above us and watches us, and we’ll fly with rockets into space to see what he looks like. so, the metal flung into the sky is the rocket itself, not some maintaining materials. but i guess i should read the lyrics first…

oh yeah, starhammer would be like thor and his crushing hammer. nordic myths, anyone?

edit: after reading the lyrics, i can confirm my impression for the first 2 songs. x-3 for me is clearly about the americans flying to the moon (“We’ll fly the flag and I know were representing humanity and democracy and all that”), and finding out that it’s no god, and that stars aren’t either, they’re ‘just’ “gas sucking binary star”s. i have no idea about the rest of the songs though…

    this is fun.

in reply to: Oslo, Summer, WHAT THE…? #16336

what the…? phanerothyme and let them eat cake above trust us? i love both of them, but… won’t be able to go there, but i’ll still vote while hoping there will be a roadwork. now that would be a gift for the fans. my list looks like this:

    3 – trust us

    2 – timothy’s monster

1 – angels and daemons at play

while guessing that timothy’s monster will make it. the wheel with kenneth on drums, got to be enormous anyway. just wondering in what version they would play the ocean in her eye, the new faster version as played in autumn?…

thanks, i’ve applied to join :) (and damn, 200 characters is short…) so i’m hoping that the brussels recording finds its way up there :)

in reply to: Brussels Gig #14227

thanks for the explanation, fillmore :) i would like to join, but i have to supply a comment for the group owner… what should i write? don’t want to write anything wrong, not too sure about how this works :?
