Ok, here my opinion on the songs (wrote about sound and cover before):

Ozzylot: A great pop-song with some very nice, hidden melodies and a funny solo by Snah.

Riding The Tiger: My favourite up to now. Psychedelic beginning and such an awesome vocal melody over the driving riff.

Whole Lotta Diana: Just a cool straight forward song with a jam-ending. The very last riff is perfect for extending it on stage. Really huge!

Cornucopia: Didn’t get into this one yet. Not very inspiried, even though it has a beautiful piano intro by Larry Space.

Mr. Victim: Better then the last one, although it continues the principle of a kind of “noodled bass riff in some weird meter” where Snah lays chords above. But I like the vocal melody pretty much.

The Waiting Game: Altough it’s actually just one simple riff it touches me pretty much.

Child Of The Future: Guess this has to grow still. Doesn’t touch me too much yet but is ambitious! :)

What always came to my mind when I listen to their last 3 records is that they seem to be recorded in a very quick way. Not that they made no effort for them but it’s not like when you listen to Trust Us or Blissard or the LTEC / Phanerothyme-era. There you think they wanted to get the best out of their visions of how to make these albums in every aspect. The last 3 sound like “let’s get in the studio and record something”. Let’s see what comes next! :)

Got mine today, didn’t have time to give it a real listen but for the cover design: Great!

Really like that head with the cut-out eyes on the front and the inner sleeve. It’s kind of connected to LLM, with those spread out, multi-coloured triangles. The poster included is typical Motorpsycho / Kim. Maybe for the next time they could do a complete design change, like Sonic Youth did with Dirty where they just used photographs. That’d be cool!

Sound: Better than the last two! On what I’ve heard so far, typical Steve Albini drum sound (with that wonderful fat snare tone!) which is great. Still sometimes (for the first listen) they could stop using too many layers of guitar which gives it a little lack of transparency. I’d also say: listen to the new Sonic Youth, they did that great! Vocals are just beautiful, they fit in perfectly and are used in an interesting way. The bass is just big as it should be!

Review about the songs themselves coming soon… :)

    1. Morning Rain (underrated song on an underrated album)

    2. Little Ricky Massenburg

    3. Theme From The Tussler

    4. Never Let You Out

    5. When You’re Dead

Yeah, the same happened here at a show in Munich. They didn’t play Black To Comm at the end cause of someone who threw a bottle on stage. Bent was pissed and got of the stage in a pretty arrogant way…. It’s stupid to throw a bottle on stage but you could handle that in bit more friendly way…

Not really like Star Star Star….

in reply to: How to make “Child of the future” digital… #11822

Yeah, I do it the same way (line out –> line in) although the line-in of a cheap consumer computer is mostly pretty crappy….

Man, this is great news! I’m so excited about the sound on this record. I like Steve Albini’s work and to listen to a MP album recorded in his Electrical studio just rules!
